Ortega also shared one of her worst audition stories, but told THR, "I ended up booking the part."

00:00Hey, I'm Jenna Ortega, and I'm from Stuck in the Middle.

00:08Fix my bed.

00:12Trail mix.

00:13I love trail mix.

00:14I eat it all the time.

00:15It's a bad habit.

00:19Oof.

00:21One time during an audition, I kept stumbling over this one line,

00:25and the casting director told me, don't worry about it, don't worry about it.

00:28But every time I messed up, I would say sorry,

00:30and then one time she just flipped, and she was like, don't say sorry.

00:34And I was like, I am so sorry.

00:36I ended up getting the part, so.

00:41I had gotten a phone call from my agents,

00:44and they were asking me how school was going because I was in eighth grade.

00:47They're like, do you like going to public school?

00:49And I was like, yeah, it's really fun.

00:50I get to see my friends.

00:51I'm in a lot of classes with them.

00:53And they're like, would you be upset if you had to do school on a Disney set?

00:57And I was like, um, and my mom was like, don't you understand what's going on?

01:01And I was like, I don't, and they were like, you book stuck in the middle.

01:05And that's when I just dropped the phone and cried really hard.

01:08Like, it was an ugly cry, just all on the floor, too.

01:12I just fell.

01:12Viola Davis and Denzel Washington.

01:19Denzel, I've been in love with his work since I was eight years old.

01:23I saw Man on Fire, and he just became my idol.

01:26And Viola Davis, she's just incredible.

01:29Everything she does, also the way she carries herself, she is so classy.

01:33And I just love her.

01:34She's real, she's honest, and her work is honest as well.

01:37I will be directing.

01:42Hopefully Hollywood will open up and give us Latinas a shot in their leading roles.

01:47And, um, I don't know, maybe I'll dabble in some producing and writing as well.
