00:00Beef has been picked up for a second season at Netflix, and the cast for season two of the
00:04anthology series was just announced. Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Kaylee Spaney
00:11will head the cast for the second installment, which will have eight 30-minute episodes,
00:15which is down from season one, which had 10 episodes. Oscar winner Yoon Ye-jung has also
00:20signed on to the cast. Roles for each of the actors are not being revealed yet. Creator Lee
00:25Sung Jin will once again serve as showrunner. Season two will center on a young couple that
00:29witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and
00:34coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner. A second season has
00:39been in the works for some time, following Beef's strong showing at the 2023 Emmys, where it won
00:44eight awards, including Best Limited or Anthology Series. Isaac and Mulligan were in negotiations to
00:50star in season two during the summer. At the SAG Awards earlier this year, the show's creator shares
00:54what he looks for when casting actors. I think it depends, like, case by case on the character.
01:00Ultimately, though, you're hoping to find someone that's tapping into something true and honest, and
01:06you know, I think so much of acting is actually the removal of performance, and so, yeah, we're
01:14always trying to find collaborators who really want to go there and remove the mask when they put on the
01:21mask. For more on this story, head to THR.com. This is The Hollywood Reporter News.
