The official cause of death for Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock has been revealed. In initial reports regarding his death, it was revealed that Blackstock, who was married to the singer and daytime talk show host, died of cancer. The coroner's office announced that Blackstock died of melanoma, a form of skin cancer that had been present for three years. The professional talent manager died Aug. 7 at age 48.

00:14On Monday, the coroner's office announced that Blackstock died of melanoma,

00:18a form of skin cancer that had been present for three years.

00:21The professional talent manager died August 7th at the age of 48.

00:25He reportedly died at home under hospice care surrounded by loved ones.

00:30His death was initially announced by Blackstock's management company, Starstruck,

00:34which was founded by his father, in a statement posted to its Instagram account.

00:38Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years.

00:41He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.

00:50Late last Wednesday, Clarkson had announced to her fans that she was postponing the August dates of her Las Vegas residency,

00:57citing that Blackstock had been ill.

00:59The vocal and TV mega talent said that she needed to be fully present for her two children,

01:04whom they have been co-parenting for years.

01:06While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year my children's father has been ill,

01:10and at this moment I need to be fully present for them.

01:13I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows,

01:16and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.

01:20In addition to his children with Clarkson,

01:22Blackstock is survived by his two children from a previous marriage and one grandchild.
