00:04CNN reporter Caitlin Collins has apologized for using homophobic slurs in tweets that
00:09resurfaced on Sunday. In the tweets dated back to 2011, Collins used the word
00:14in response to another tweet and also tweeted to another user that she didn't
00:19know if I want a room with a lesbian. On Sunday night, Collins tweeted that the
00:23messages were sent back when she was in college and that she regretted being
00:26immature and using that sort of language. When I was in college, I used ignorant
00:31language in a few tweets to my friends, Collins tweeted. It was immature, but it
00:35doesn't represent the way I feel at all. I regret it and apologize. Collins' apology
00:40came after Log Cabin Republicans, which describes itself as the nation's largest
00:44Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies,
00:49along with others posted about the old tweets on Twitter on Sunday. The conservative
00:54political news outlet Washington Examiner reported on the original tweets.
00:58Collins joined CNN in June of 2017, covering the White House after working at
01:03Tucker Carlson's conservative website The Daily Caller.
