Donald Trump has issued a last minute pardon for Lil Wayne and commuted the sentences of Kodak Black and Death Row Records’ Michael "Harry-O" Harris.
Transcript
00:00With his presidency winding down on January 19th, Donald Trump pardoned over 100 people,
00:13including Lil Wayne. And in his last full day in office, the president even chose to commute
00:17the sentences of Kodak Black and Death Row Records' Michael Harry O. Harris, seen here
00:22in a photo from a Change.org petition. Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., aka Wayne, pleaded guilty
00:27to illegally possessing a loaded weapon on a private jet while traveling to Miami back in
00:32December 2020. Now, as a convicted felon stemming from a gun charge in 2007, that meant he was
00:37looking at 10 years in prison at an upcoming January 28th sentencing. Wayne's pardon was
00:42hardly surprising, though, after the Grammy-winning rapper randomly endorsed Trump for re-election
00:47last October and posed for a picture, which he then shared on Twitter. Kodak Black, on the other
00:52hand, born Bill Kahan Capri, is currently in federal prison after pleading guilty to a firearms
00:57possession charge, following his detention at the Canadian-American border in March 2020.
01:02His commutation was supported by numerous religious and community leaders, as well as Gucci Mane,
01:07Lil Pump, and Lil Yachty. Meanwhile, Harry O. has served 30 years of a 25-to-life sentence in
01:13California for conspiracy to commit murder, and while serving time, helped Suge Knight form
01:18Godfather, the parent company for Death Row Records. For more on all this, head to billboard.com.
