Celebrities, local officials, and community leaders gathered on Los Angeles’s Skid Row to serve Thanksgiving meals to residents living amid one of the largest homelessness crises in the United States. Long lines formed outside shelters and outreach centers as volunteers distributed hot meals, offered basic supplies, and spoke with individuals experiencing chronic housing insecurity.

The annual Thanksgiving outreach event comes at a time when Los Angeles continues to face rising homelessness, with tens of thousands living in shelters, temporary facilities, or on the streets. City officials said the gathering is meant to highlight both community solidarity and the urgent need for long-term solutions, including affordable housing and expanded mental health support.

00:22This is important because we have the biggest homeless problem in the country.
00:50This is catastrophic what's happening here.
00:55And for all these people to come together to help their fellow man is really such a beautiful thing to witness.
01:02I've got my kids down here helping serve food, putting smiles on people's faces.
01:10Some of the people recognize me and, you know, at the end of the day, I put my pants on just like everybody else.
01:16I mean, in the nation's second largest city, we have thousands of people here on Skid Row who are unhoused.
01:35And it's an honor for me to be able to provide them with some nourishment to get through today.
01:45And but we need to deal with the people who are living on our streets in the nation's second largest city.
01:52No one should be sleeping on the streets.
01:54And so an opportunity to see the people, to talk to the people, to find out how they are is very important to me.
02:01It's Thanksgiving.
02:17It's called Giving.
02:19We've been coming here for a couple of decades.
02:34The mission of the mission has never been more important.
02:38And it's a privilege to be here in support of it and try and help out here and give people a little bit of joy.
02:44Hey, no, the picture is about him. Hey.
02:49It's about him.
02:50Love you. Don't worry.
02:52I mean, caring for one another is an apolitical issue.
03:04And at this time where things have been so divisive, moments like these, events like these,
03:11show exactly what kind of communities we have here in City Council District 14.
03:26And also that Skid Row is a neighborhood like any other neighborhood that deserves a community event.
03:32We've given nearly 5,000 turkeys in this district.
03:35And every neighborhood, including Skid Row, is benefiting from that because it's a neighborhood like anybody else.
03:49Oh, I can see you!
