The Johor Bahru High Court on Thursday acquitted and discharged an unemployed man over a murder
00:06
case in Senai five years ago.
00:09
43-year-old S. Adinarayanan walked away a free man after the court found him not guilty
00:15
of murdering 64-year-old T. Krishnan.
00:18
The offence allegedly took place at a house along Jalan Senai Jaya Enam in Taman Senai
00:23
Jaya between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. on August 3, 2020.
00:29
The accused was charged under Section 302 of the penal code, which provides the death sentence
00:34
or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, with at least 12 strokes of the cane.
00:39
The victim's body was found inside the premises with injuries to the head and body.
00:44
The court said the prosecution failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt, adding that
00:49
there was no proof linking the accused with the weapon as his DNA was not found on it.
00:55
The court said one of the prosecution's eyewitnesses had since died, which meant that the defence
01:00
was unable to cross-examine his statement.
01:04
The court said the witness had also said he could not clearly recall meeting the accused
