00:00Canadian Prime Minister McCartney announced a support package for the steel and lumber industries hit by the U.S. tariff increases.

00:10Washington raised the tariff to 50%, a measure that directly affects sectors that rely almost entirely on the U.S. market.

00:18In this context, the Prime Minister has stated that he will protect the most exposed workers and companies

00:25and announced a reduction of the steel import quota from 50% to 20% for countries without trade agreements with Canada

00:33and, starting in 2026, a subsidy for domestic rate transport to strengthen national production.

00:40A head of government confirmed that trade negotiations with the U.S. remain suspended, but the willingness for dialogue remains open.
