00:00A 70-year-old local man has died, while 18 other crew members were rescued after their
00:07vessel nearly capsized in waters northeast of Pulau Perak on Wednesday.
00:12Kedah and Perlis Maritime Enforcement Agency, MMEA Director, First Admiral Romley Mustafa,
00:19said all the crew members, including a woman, were located by the Royal Malaysian Navy vessel
00:24KD Ledang, which was deployed following a distress report.
00:29KD Ledang arrived at the Navy's region 3 Jetty at about 6 a.m. on Thursday, where all
00:34survivors, aged between 15 and 53, underwent medical checks conducted by health ministry
00:40personnel.
00:42After the examinations, the 18 survivors were handed over to the MMEA and the Marine Department
00:48for further action, while the deceased was handed over to the police.
00:52The crew comprised three Myanmar nationals, one Bangladeshi and the rest Malaysians.
00:59Romley said the search and rescue operation has now been called off.
