00:00Thank you very much, Madam Deputy Speaker.
00:03Look, there is no doubt about it, Madam Deputy Speaker, if you are here, this is the ejection
00:07seat.
00:08It is about a far away you can get from the dispatch box, and if you are sitting here,
00:12they want you out there.
00:15In the past, I have been asked to leave twice by Peter Dutton, and I suppose at the last
00:20change, when they talk about generational change, it is pretty clear what people want.
00:26One of the biggest things, Madam Deputy Speaker, is that after five weeks—I announced this
00:31about five weeks ago—apart from a 90-second phone conversation with the Leader, I have
00:36had no communication with either the Leader of the National Party or the Deputy Leader of
00:39the National Party to try and resolve this, and that is disappointing.
00:43So after 30 years with the National Party, I am resigning from the Party.
00:48That really leaves me with a heavy heart, and I apologise for all the hurt that that will
00:52cause other people.
00:53I really do.
00:54But it is not the most important thing.
00:56What is really important is that we understand those dealing with the cost-of-living crisis,
01:00that we go into bat for them.
01:02What is really important is that they are still building intermittent power precincts and swindle
01:06factories in regional areas and destroying communities such as my own.
01:10What is really important is that the Chinese Communist government are breathing down our necks
01:13and each day become more provocative.
01:16What is really important is that we have regional hospitals with our doctors in them.
01:22What I have to do, if I am going to continue on that fight, is get myself into a better position
01:27than the ejection chair at the back bench of the coalition in opposition.
01:32That is an issue.
01:33What is really important is that the Chinese Communist Party is that the Chinese Communist Party can be
01:37in the same way.
01:38What is really important is that the Chinese Communist Party can be in a better position.
