Woman killed, man flown to hospital after shark attack

A woman is dead after a shark attack at a remote beach, with a man in Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition after also being bitten.

00:00A UAB working in the area at the moment, doing some surveillance, so they'll be in the area,

00:18keeping an eye out for any activity in the water.

00:20We anticipate a lot of people wanting to go to the beach, so trying to get some signage

00:25and get that message out there.

00:26We obviously want them to be aware of the risks.

00:29Obviously sharks are one of those risks at these not-patrolled locations.

00:33With the weekend coming up, we will have patrolled locations and increased surveillance over the weekend as well.
