00:00A highly admired Virginia high school football coach has landed himself in hot water
00:04after police revealed the twice-named Coach of the Year had fled from his home in rural Virginia
00:10amid a number of disturbing allegations brought against him.
00:13Travis Turner, a 46-year-old married father of three, disappeared on November 20th
00:19after he became aware that officers were headed to his Appalachia, Virginia home
00:23to discuss an unspecified investigation.
00:26Though police were initially mum on the nature of the probe,
00:30cops finally revealed on Tuesday that they were charging the small-town football guru
00:34with five counts of child pornography and another five of using a computer to solicit a minor.
00:40The bizarre saga started when Turner, who has spent more than a decade coaching at Union High School
00:46in Big Stone Gap, a rural Friday Night Lights-esque community,
00:50was listed as a missing person on the Virginia State Police database late last week
00:55when he disappeared in the middle of an undefeated season.
00:58Cops said Turner vanished as they were heading to his home as part of the, quote,
01:03early stages of an investigation.
01:05Police insisted they were not there to arrest him.
01:08But the mystery deepened when officials at Wise County Public Schools, which oversees Union High,
01:13revealed that an employee within the district had been placed on administrative leave.
01:17But neither Union High, which has about 600 students enrolled, nor cops would identify the person.
01:23But it all came crashing down when Virginia State Police revealed they issued a warrant for the married dad's arrest
01:29for possession of child pornography and using a computer to solicit a minor on November 25th.
01:35Cops said additional charges are pending and that Turner is now considered a fugitive.
01:40It remains unclear how many victims are involved in the allegations against Turner.
01:44Turner's wife of 25 years, Leslie, whose Facebook page is filled with photos of her hubby and son on the gridiron,
01:51denied the allegations of sexual misconduct, telling the Daily Mail,
01:55none of that is true.
01:56He's a good dad and a good husband, and we want him home.

02:03On November 21st, she posted and then deleted a message that said,
02:07I just want to get on here for a second to clear up something.
02:10As of right now, 10.25 p.m. on Friday night, Travis is missing, and that's all we know.
02:16Turner was named Coach of the Year by the Herald Courier in 2021 with a glowing profile,
02:22describing him as an emotionless and unflappable leader with laser-like focus in a community where
02:29football is king.
02:30He joined the team in 2011 and has led his players to numerous victories and championships since,
02:36earning himself a reputation as a cool-headed leader.
02:40As of November 26th, Turner is still missing, and investigators have launched a multi-agency
02:45manhunt involving drones, state police aviation, canines, and bloodhounds to find the fugitive coach.
