00:00Ready for Paramount, Liquid, and Cherry was reacting in the fantastic failure of Fantastic Four from Eisenhower Productions.
00:10Over the past couple of decades, we've seen many superhero franchises hit up to an unfortunate demise on the big screen.
00:16From the DCEU to the Sony Spider-Man University, Fox's X-Men.
00:20No babies.
00:21Seems like no one has been able to watch.
00:22No babies.
00:23Like Disney's MCU.
00:25However, possibly...
00:25No babies.
00:26I said no babies.
00:28This is now in 2015's Fantastic Four.
00:31La Fantastic Four.
00:34No.
00:37No.
00:38I mean, yes, Fantastic Four.
00:40I'm sorry.
00:41This is not Spider-Man or Lil and Stitch.
00:43No.
00:45I'm sorry, Fantastic Four.
00:46You okay?
00:47Yes.
00:48We're probably fine as win.
00:50I'm really sorry about that.
00:56I'm sorry.
00:58Fantastic Four, First Steps.
01:02You okay?
01:02Yes, I do.
01:05I'm sorry.
01:10I'm sorry, Fantastic Four.
01:13Yes.
01:15Cool.
01:16I didn't do anything.
01:18I just say,
01:19I love you so much.
01:27I'm sorry.
01:29Sorry about that.
01:34No.
01:35I don't like logos.
01:37Stop.
01:37Stop it, bitch.
01:38No.
01:40I don't like logos.
01:41Stop.
01:41X. I don't want to look at the logos. No. Make an X. Make it X. Okay. No more logos enough. Only the reunion dip.
01:56No. I'm sorry. I'm going to test for your cue.
02:01No. No.
02:05No.
02:09What did you just say?
02:31Susan.
02:33Sorry.
02:37The Fantastic Four.
02:45Mom.
02:54No.
02:57I'm sorry. Fantastic Four.
03:03Well, the hard work on the screenplay
03:05Hopefully steer the ship back in the right direction,
03:06But with a hard release they put on their heads
03:08And production getting closer and closer each day
03:11The working conditions were less than ideal.
03:13If you're wondering why Fox was so concerned
03:15About getting this into production and as soon as possible
03:17It's because if they didn't make a fantastic four film by a certain date
03:21Then the rights would revert back to Marvel.
03:23As for Cassidene, they make any part of the running for each of these iconic characters.
03:28Trank always had Micah B. Jordan in line with Johnny Storm, but for Reed Richards, Kate
03:33Madden, Richard Madden, and Jack O'Connell were all considered before Miles Teller scored
03:38the role.
03:39Apparently, the studio really didn't want Teller in the role, but Trank fought to the
03:43male plan, which is ironic compared to reasons we'll discuss later.
03:46Eddie Redmayne, Jen Houston, and Sam Riley were all in the run for Dr. Dill before Sophie
03:51Kevle was cast.
03:52Mads Mikkelsen also auditioned for the role, but he nevered up walking out for his audition.
03:57Pursue Storm, Saoirse Ronan, Alice Williams, and Russell and Margot Robbie all auditioned
04:02for the role in the nobility of Kate Mara.
04:04To prepare for her role, Kate Mara wanted to read some fantastic horror comic books, but
04:08she was pulled onto because the film was a original story and not based on the original
04:12material.
04:13As for Ben Graham, Fox would originally wanted Josh Gad for the role, but luckily, it ended
04:18up with Jamie Bell instead.
04:19In fact, one of the old enough sites to this little mess is Jamie Bell and Kate Mara met
04:24each other on set and would get married a few years later.
04:27Despite all the fault of the script, the dream took a push-through of a male point to production
04:31in May of 2014, but the troubles with Van Voorstead had only just begun.
04:36The Fantastic Four was originally going to be shot in Vancouver, Canada, however, it was
04:44moved to a back road in Louisiana due to the better tax incentives.
04:47The family took place on sentence two days before the night, and the road in New York
04:48went and I was just going to be shot in the road in New York.
04:49The family's fantastic four.
04:50The family's fantastic four.
04:51The family's fantastic four.
04:52The family's fantastic four.
04:53The one in New York City said that the full production took place, Fox's slashed the budget
04:54by $30,000, taking out major action sequences, and cutting onto the spectacle to the climax
05:00with the intention of filming an employee's second round of shooting.
05:06second round of shooting, and this original verse was going to be close for two hours
05:10to 20 minutes, rather than the hour and 40 minutes he had ended up being
05:13important to her to quickly, the working relationship between Trank and these three actors
05:18was full of tension. Here's a quote, Josh Trank ended up almost
05:22fighting Teller, who has a reputation of sarcastic and recalcitrant while working.
05:26At one point, the conflict here is full of physical, with Trank and Teller
05:30chest-to-chest, daring each other to throw to her to crunch.
05:33Neither did. There are also rumors that Trank acted bold and cruel
05:37to keep her up on set, as he did not want her in the whole of Sue Star,
05:41but was overruled by Fox on that casting decision. To add insult to
05:45injury, there were also rumors about how Josh Trank would act extremely
05:49erratic when isolated while on set, and would sometimes show up strong for five.
05:53But again, these are just rumors, so I can not confirm or deny this actually happened.
05:57But the drama doesn't end there, as according to the public reporter,
06:00while thrilling in that news, Trank and his dogs allegedly caused more than
06:04$100,000 worth of damage to a house that they were heading there.
06:08To make matters worse for Trank, he began sleeping with a 38-specialist nightstand
06:12after receiving him from step-rest for his decision to cast Michael B. Jordan
06:16as Johnny Storm, his broken Trank.
06:18I was so f***ing paranoid during that shoot.
06:21If someone came into my house, I would have ended their f***ing crime.
06:24If you're in a headspace, we're going to...
06:26The Frame Pro.
06:55With wireless 1-Connect box.
07:04Even smarter with smart things.
07:06There's a lot of between you, R-C-D-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R-I-R.
07:19So here's where I'm shovin', all your friends ovin', yo.
07:23It's a good time comin', every thing you want it, it's right here, yo.
07:27Every single year, it's right here, yo.
07:30We got the rules ovin', got the kids ovin', yo.
07:34It's a good time comin', yo.
07:35Right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right.
07:39For one to tell you, you think I'm going to defend myself.
07:42But the troubles didn't even end with the film around production.
07:44As after a run-cull was shown to Fox Studio Heads, they hated it.
07:48And as we touched on earlier, they hadn't yet filmed in the climax or the ending of the movie.
07:53Trank was pretty much cut out of the issue process, with Fox commissioning new script pages to be written, and Trank never got to read.
08:00Trank also wrote pages himself, but these were ignored by the studio.
08:04Here's another quote from Polygon on this process.
08:06It was like being tax-rated instead of being on the set, which was overseen by Kimbert and producer of Parker.
08:12You're standing there, and you're basically watching producers blocking out scenes five minutes ahead of when you get there.
08:17Having editors hired from the studio deciding the sequence of shots that are going to construct whatever is going on, and what it is that they need.
08:24And then, because they know you're being nice, they'll sort of be nice to you by saying,
08:28Well, does that sound good? And you can say yes or no.
08:31This time, Trank said yes. He wanted to keep his job.
08:34During these reshoots, there were scheduled conflicts with a lot of the cast, so they can only shoot on weekends.
08:39Additionally, you can see Kate Morrow wearing a pretty noticeable wig, and Miles Teller having facial hair that disappears and reappears with different shots.
08:46Trank eventually got the director's deal in American Hall to ensure his rights were being recognized.
08:51Trank and the studio reached a deal where he would re-edit the movie while Fox worked on his own cut, and both versions would screen test for audiences.
08:58Fox would then bring off the editor behind Avatar and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Steven Ripken, to cobble together a cohesive picture with all the footage they filmed.
09:07And Ripken became kind of the de-facto director, as Trank was not allowed any creative inputs.
09:13Van Forestik was a movie that was quickly going up the rails and was only getting worse and worse.
09:17But again, the Fox didn't want to pull the plug on the project because they wanted to maintain control over the rights.
09:23I think the scenario for Mike on this project was the fact that Stan-
09:26AYE! Sorry, he wasn't lost before.
09:29I'll be right back, you guys.
09:35Okay, I came back.
09:38Now let's continue watching.
09:40This movie's ballroom. Anyways, let's discuss the reception of the film and some of the aftermath.
09:45Fantastic Four did theaters on August 7th of 2015.
09:52The video had number two of the box office behind Mission Impossible Road Nation, grossing a total of $25 million.
09:59In the US, it went on to make $56 million and overseas it made $111 million, with a total worldwide gross of $167 million.
10:08And unfortunately, this was not enough to turn a profit, as the film had a production budget of around $920 to $155 million.
10:15And that's not including the marketing, distribution, or the leader's cuts.
10:20The Hall of the Recorder has to be attempted to have lost somewhere between $100 million.
10:25This made it the second biggest box office bomb of 2015, only beat now by Disney's Tomorrowland, which lost around $120 to $150 million.
10:35So it wasn't a financial success. But, was it at least that hit with the band's programs?
10:40No.
10:41No.
10:42No.
10:43No.
10:44No.
10:45No.
10:46No.
10:47No.
10:48No.
10:49No.
10:55No.
10:56Well, Bom momenty.
10:57No.
10:58No, Tron, lazy enough.
10:59No more.
11:00Here is the fantastic four first steps.
11:03Yes?
11:05I should have won with ourimal theory.
11:09I'd like I should uh go there.
11:14Remember you know my dog.
11:16Here is Fantastic Four First Steps, yeah.
11:19First Steps.
11:46Fantastic Four First Steps.
12:16I would love the chance to direct a sequel.
12:18I think this is my biggest what-if in Hollywood.
12:20I would kill to see a Tommy Wiseau directed and forced a sequel.
12:24That would have been something special.
12:26Concept artist Alexander Lozano revealed that Shrink's narration of the Fantastic Four
12:30were considered for cameos.
12:32Contemplars take on Deadpool 2, but unfortunately these cameos never need permission.
12:37However, once Disney acquired...
12:39I don't know why.
12:40Logo, stop it.
12:42You only...
12:44Milner 6.
12:46Introduction.
12:47Fantastic Four First Steps.
12:49Yes.
12:50I love Fantastic Four.
12:51Not Spider-Man or Lulon Stitch.
12:53No.
12:54Say what you will about the MCU, but at least the proper...
12:57Who's going to recognize him to do in the video?
12:59So now that we know the troubled history of how you've been forced it, let's dive into
13:02the real reasons why it failed, both partially, but also just as opposed to...
13:07Fantastic Four only.
13:09Fantastic Four only.
13:11...and some big ones we've already touched on.
13:12Obviously, the biggest reason being, the terrible reviews in Word of Mouth, the board of critics,
13:13fans, and general audiences, which made lots of people hesitant to check them out in theaters.
13:26And Fox knew this would happen too, as they didn't live in the group with Margo until 7 p.m.
13:30on Thursday, which was the same time as the first show.
13:33I remember where this movie came out, and lots of people were heralding it as one of the worst comic book movies of all time.
13:39And then there's also the concept of issues, which caused the budget to swell and made the wrong...
13:43Let's go.
13:45...on top of that, all the concept problems came from the bad press.
13:48...and gave the home project the stamp as a failure for 4-8.
13:51...in fact, the same way that the movie debuted in theaters,
13:55...and Josh Drake went on his Twitter to trash the people's events.
13:58...inventor's the core.
14:01...and it would've received a greater use.
14:03...you'll probably never see it.
14:05...and that's reality, though.
14:06...fantastic version, you say?
14:08...while Franklin quickly delete his weight.
14:10...the damage was done, and this little maneuver was estimated from box 10,
14:14...10 million dollars.
14:16...I mean, when the movie's director comes out and says the book is trash,
14:19...that tells the audience all they need to know about the information CNN.
14:22...I will say, usually bad marketing...
14:24...you know, um, my own thing.
14:27...but the first trailer footage was actually pretty solid.
14:30...even though half the footage wasn't in the end,
14:33...it still looked like an interesting take of the characters...
14:36...and the series...
14:37...and the series...
14:38...nope.
14:39...that's not Tron.
14:41...that's Fantastic Four.
14:43...didn't have the greatest reputation...
14:45...that's not Tron.
14:46...that's Fantastic Four.
14:47...both the 2005 film and its 2007 sequel...
14:50...we've got three major reviews...
14:52...and didn't do the most of the film members on the box-offs.
14:55...I mean, they were decent numbers, but not fantastic.
14:58...say that again?
14:59...this new reboot was Fox's channel...
15:01...Saturday...
15:02...Fantastic Four.
15:04...Saturday...
15:05...Saturday...
15:06...Fantastic Four...
15:07...First Steps.
15:08...saber...
15:09...nope.
15:10...I mean, it's not gone for you.
15:12...that's not Tron.
15:14...that's Fantastic Four.
15:16...Fantastic Four...
15:17...Fantastic Four...
15:18...was terrible.
15:19...there were also quite a few deviations...
15:21...or in the source material...
15:22...which upset more...
15:23...time fans of the comics.
15:24...I think the most of the readers one...
15:26...is Doctor Doom...
15:27...with such an iconic...
15:28...and interesting character...
15:29...it made more of that...
15:30...the movie too...
15:31...in closure.
15:32...The fact that this movie...
15:33...treated its characters...
15:34...with such little respect...
15:35...the Cosmic section...
15:36...of the intended fan base...
15:37...to likely go off...
15:38...is not supported monetarily.
15:39...the fact that the MCU...
15:40...was still going strong...
15:41...in 2015...
15:42...and so...
15:43...the characters were being made...
15:44...to why those movies succeeded...
15:45...made matters worse.
15:46...The movie was also...
15:48...facing some competition...
15:49...in the box office...
15:50...with Mission Impossible Rotation...
15:52...which was made due to...
15:53...financial and critical success...
15:55...and this all culminated...
15:56...in the movie...
15:57...using the meaning...
15:58...of $400 million...
15:59...so now that we've discussed...
16:01...some reason why this movie failed...
16:02...partially...
16:03...let me break down...
16:04...my personal laws...
16:05...on why it failed...
16:06...as it equally...
16:07...not too late...
16:08...as it was the CD...
16:09...and...
16:12...lothat...
16:14...as it's just...
16:16...this MOA...
16:18...in a lot of...
16:19....is it really...
16:20...as bad as I thought...
16:21...don't get me wrong...
16:23...it's still horrible...
16:24...but...
16:25...givable reviews...
16:26...by comments...
16:27...and support...
16:28...for another Artemis now...
16:29...or Jump Hicks...
16:30...but...
16:31...there were a...
16:32...a...
16:33...thin...
16:34...and a few scenes...
16:35...that I enjoyed...
16:36I think I'm going to play back because most of the film is pretty bad.
16:40There's a few scenes in this movie which really lead into that foreign aspect.
16:44It's fully good for a dark tone, which land pretty well.
16:48The world when they teleport back from the other dimension and Reedus crawled on the ground bridge bed
16:52it was pretty intense and ineffective.
16:54And all of the scenes that characters are being operated on really lead into that body-boring aspect.
16:58I can tell that some miners wanted to go further and that scene with the film
17:04coming in his head was surprisingly glory for a PG-13 movie and was pretty cool.
17:08The cast was also in the high point of the film.
17:11They managed to score some pretty much on the whole actors.
17:14It's just a shame the script was so insanely bad.
17:17Sequences of solid performances can be free every once in a while,
17:20but they're never given the chance to truly flex their acting muscles or the little well-written dialogue.
17:26As a whole, I think the first act of this movie is quite decent.
17:29It actually takes the time to establish some of these characters
17:32who can try and think and care about film, which I can respect.
17:35However, the way these scenes are tackled isn't the greatest
17:38and it messes up the pacing of film since the second half of the movie we find so insanely fast.
17:44And I can only point the exact moment where this film is on the rails.
17:47It is the one-year time jump.
17:49The movie before and after this time jump seemed like completely different films.
17:53It totally skips over the important parts of your horror stories
17:56where the heroes actually learn how to wield their powers
17:59and a fast track says it has to follow the important character development.
18:03I'm sorry, Johnny. Sorry, Ben Grimm.
18:05I don't know if it's a female.
18:09Female.
18:11Male.
18:13Ben Grimm. I'm sorry, Ben Grimm.
18:15I'm sorry, Ben Grimm.
18:17I'm sorry, Ben Grimm.
18:19It is just so baffling how little girl's name has for its characters.
18:21Which leads into my next point.
18:23This movie just doesn't care about the new character.
18:26Name is Reed Richards.
18:28Then Johnny and Sue may give one or two scenes to help establish some of these parts
18:31in the first half of the movie.
18:33But after the time jump, they basically don't touch these characters never again.
18:37However, the learning development for these characters
18:39somehow bails in comparison to our main LN.
18:41Do the day.
18:43Nope.
18:59Oh.
19:11Oh.
19:13Oh.
19:23Oh.
19:25Oh.
19:27Sorry.
19:29Fantastic.
19:31Sorry, Fantastic Four.
19:33Yeah.
19:35Oh.
19:37Oh.
19:39Oh.
19:41Oh, I'll take Fireheart.
19:43Fireheart.
19:45Fireheart.
19:47No.
19:49He's a fireheart.
19:51When fighting Doom, they do that at home today,
19:53where they all take turns attacking him one at a time,
19:55and when that obviously doesn't work,
19:57they get the brilliant idea to work together
19:59to stop him. Their big plan to meet
20:01Doctor Doom is to turn the thing invisible
20:03and have him punch Doom into the third act
20:05Skybee. That's it.
20:07He's a super genius-free Richard Thicke plan.
20:09It is so frustrating to watch
20:11because this guy's supposed to be one of the smartest characters
20:13in the whole universe.
20:15And this is how he defeats
20:17the smartest characters. He punches him into a sky game.
20:19I mean, foolproof plan, I guess,
20:21but it's just so lazy and stupid.
20:23And don't even get me started on the last scene of this movie.
20:25The group dynamic and chemistry
20:27is just so non-existent
20:29because they try to whip and joke with each other.
20:31But, at least he gave us the say that again.
20:33Honestly, that being the fiend,
20:35this film's entire legacy is deserved
20:37because there's just not much substance here.
20:39Alright, but I think I'm sorry to go.
20:41Let's wrap it up.
20:43From battles with the director,
20:47and after the studio,
20:49budget cuts, reshoots,
20:51it's no wonder that 2015's Fantastic Four
20:53turned out to be a monster failure it was.
20:55It never watched the success of the film
20:57It never watched the success of the film
20:58The film's exclusive to the film's
20:59The film's two million dollars
21:01at the block's office,
21:02along with being trashed
21:03by the print bunch of everyone
21:04who was unlucky enough to watch it.
21:06And that's the long and complicated history
21:08behind the band or Sniff.
21:10But what are your thoughts on the movie?
21:12Do you think it's the worst comic book
21:13in the movie of all time?
21:14Or are there other films out there
21:16that disturb that title?
21:17I'd love to know in the comments below.
21:19This has been John with my production team.
21:21Thank you so much for watching.
21:22Also, thank you so much for the film's
21:23Hey, our Pirate.
21:25I am totally grateful.
21:27I wish you'd never go on here.
21:28I'll see you next week.
21:30Okay, that was the end.
21:32The Fantastic Failure
21:34of Fantastic Four.
21:36Alright.
21:37Thank you, Cherry Paramount
21:39and Lakewood.
