00:23to everyone out there so um they got a list of words that um pretty much top five words that
00:31people mispronounce in texas and i kind of want to go through these i want to see if y'all um
00:38pronounce uh any of these words right or wrong okay all right so um so you got the medical term you know
00:45the real term for staph infection what is it staphylococcus uh you know what we're talking
00:52about yeah i'm not sure if you pronounced it right is it staphylococcus uh kind of cockle or something
01:01like that let me see where's in front of us yeah oh staphylococcal okay yep yep so you got um you got
01:08that one you got the sauce the the famous sauce that everybody always misused i always have to
01:15think about it worcestershire worcestershire is it worcestershire worcestershire yeah is yeah that's
01:20how you is there r in there is it worcestershire is it worcestershire i've always done the r worcestershire
01:24yeah some people say worcestershire and all this other stuff worcestershire worcestershire yeah yeah i've
01:30never i don't use the sauce what is the rock proper i'm not looking at your no you said it right
01:34worcestershire worcestershire okay yeah i see that that that is enough to upset me to not use the sauce like i'm
01:40sure i know the worcestershire ends up in other things yeah it ends up in other things i don't even want to ask
01:45for it i yeah i was like i'm not buying that because i don't want to ever have to be like
01:48hey go in there and give me the uh the big w the the yeah no i'm good on yeah let me get the dub
01:55you know what just go ahead and give me some ketchup yeah uh berry this one i um just from
02:00working at starbucks i was pronouncing it wrong because i was here other people pronounce airy
02:05but um which berry acai oh yeah the acai yeah yeah okay i used to say because they have a
02:11strawberry acai drink there and now you saw people used to say or something like that
02:16strawberry acai acai i'm not gonna lie i probably would have said acai it's got like a if you see
02:21it written properly it's got like little i don't know i was about to say tilde that's a very particular
02:25but like little additional accents that change or alter the c and i would have messed that one up i
02:31would have screwed that one yeah and then you got the dog the uh is it a dashon adoption it's a
02:37dashon dashon yeah it's actually it's a german dog man it's a dax uh dax town dax town oh well
02:44that's because it's german dax town there we go got you and then you got the famous greek sandwich the
02:49um the gyro the gyro gyro um background from we used to call it gyro yeah yeah that one i knew
02:56hey it was a place called gyro george it wasn't called uh gyro george yeah you you lose the
03:03uh the alliteration there's gotta be a gyro in that instance yeah so here's fox 26 um going
03:09through these words salute the uh melissa wilson and the lawn dillard they was going through these
03:16words and they was kind of having a little trouble with this the most mispronounced words by texans and
03:22it seems that we share some of the lists with other states well the number one most googled search
03:28word is and i'm guessing you're looking this up if your doctor tells you you have this they might just
03:33call it a staph infection but it is pronounced staphilococcal so people just call it oh staff
03:41they don't want to deal with that it's just speaking in tongues number two is in sauce and i always get
03:47this wrong i still don't know how to say worcestershire is that how who told them that's how it's supposed
03:52to be well i don't know but thank goodness for producer for for producer kayla who tells us right
03:57you know it's sure here where's the sheer who says that i've never heard anybody say that
04:04watch your sister song oh there we go okay number three is the berry acai then the dog a dachshund
04:13have you ever heard anybody say a dachshund i have oh i was about to say is
04:17have you said it like that before delon have you been calling those cute little weenie dogs
04:26a dachshund you have you've been i was like wait are you saying it right i thought it was dachshund
04:33wait he thought that the little dog was named dachshund i mean when you look at it quick it
04:42do look like it say dachshund dachshund i'm gonna start calling them dachshund now that's more fun
04:46than uh dachshund yeah yeah so those are the top five word uh mispron uh yeah mispronounced words
04:55in texas so they kind of had the blast honestly these are words that rarely come up in my life so
05:01it's cool even if i did mispronounce these that's a great song i don't use it ever in my
05:06marinades and sure i'll take your word for it i'll take your word was it um us they went to
05:14dinner with stanford route and he put all he drenched his whole steak we were so mad at him

05:24to fleming's he asked for that sauce we're like oh no don't do it don't do it he put a little dab
05:29on it he like drenched in there yes i was like what what are you doing like i'm never going i
05:35ain't going nowhere i ain't going to no steakhouse with you man you're embarrassing us in front of
05:39the hose man that's right it's a mixtape in the loot sports radio 16 this is completely random i ran
05:48across this um this clip from 1984 it was the grammys it was the grammys song of the year you're talking
05:57my language yeah so yeah so i want to i want to get your perspective of this how tough of a category
06:04this is okay the nominees are
06:08oh all night long
06:11line on the letter is he right
06:13oh penis
06:18michael jackson
06:20billy jean michael jackson
06:23he had two songs
06:25every breath you take
06:29sting
06:30and the winner is
06:43every breath you take
06:46i was gonna say that i do that was a tough category man legends absolute goodness gracious i don't know
06:53because i know i don't know if it's a thing where you looking back at it it's like
06:58oh yeah it was tough but during that time it might not have been as bad yeah but man michael jackson had
07:04two songs nominated for song of the year yeah and lost sting i mean that's what i'm saying to the
07:11police no that yeah that's not i mean that's nothing to kind of laugh and point at yeah that
07:16was a tough category man while we're here billy jean and beat it lost yes yes uh while we're here
07:23john lopez master of way back when um was it do people also acknowledge at that time that that
07:29song is stalkery as hell which one uh the the police song everybody should take yeah not really
07:35no i don't remember that that being that big of a because that song is stalkery yeah yeah just like
07:40i'll be watching you every breath you take every step you take wait what yeah you're gonna be
07:44watching me all the time huh no uh it was actually it was awesome yeah i mean it's a good it's a great
07:50song it's a great song don't get me wrong yeah yeah don't sleep on mania too man like all them
07:55i remember the video i remember the video that i remember the video because this was on mtv i mean
07:59you watched mtv to hear the songs and watch yeah yeah that was that was i ran across that clip i'm
08:05like damn i wouldn't know who to pick is the song actually about a stalker because i always thought
08:09that that was just uh that was uh urban legend yeah no i don't remember that being a big talking
08:15point you know what that says a lot about me that i never actually went and looked that up
08:18that's how you know i'm a child of the 90s right that was back when we were like oh someone said
08:21that that was the case red 90 does things to you okay cool yeah yeah don't don't drink anything
08:25with the red was a red 40 rather yeah the color or whatever yeah don't drink nothing with that in
08:29there because bad things happen we just took it for granted by the way lionel richie was just like
08:33an also ran with that song which is another legendary one yeah yeah man that's what i'm like man
08:38that's a tough category all night long with the lionel richie yeah yeah i feel like lionel richie's done
08:44better uh well with the with commodores 100 but not necessarily by himself and i hate that the
08:49commodores era of lionel richie is not talked about nearly as much as nah honestly i don't even talk
08:55about lionel richie and the commodore i just talk about the commodores yeah and then i talk about
09:01lionel richie solo probably the commodores and the rolling stones are the concerts uh the groups that
09:08i've seen the most in concert i think i've seen the commodores like goodness gracious man yeah man
09:14the stand ain't even the word for you yeah you are you are really an og in this camp out at the hotel
09:20i've seen him in like three or four different cities at least six times my man lopez is at the
09:25tour bus like hey lionel and lionel's like hey what's up lopez we'll see you in the next city
09:30how's that restraining order working out
09:34sorry do y'all talk about music at thanksgiving like what is the topic of conversation for y'all
09:41at thanksgiving yeah big time more often than not mostly sports mostly sports especially that day
09:46you're the sports guy well no oh god you get that too everybody does like you're the sports guy i'm
09:50gonna talk about sports like i'd rather talk about billy jean right now yeah have you ever been in a
09:54situation where somebody asks you what you do for a living and you tell them like oh so what you
09:59think about the text immediately now what you think about the astros now what you think about
10:04the rockets do you follow the dynamo oh god do you follow the dash tell me it's like it's kind of
10:10like the comedian what i get the most is i know you don't want to talk about this because you do it all
10:14day but but f that i'm still gonna ask you that's kind of like oh you're a comedian tell me a joke
10:21tell me a joke oh you rap let me hear you rap right now the best one is oh you could hey make me
10:26something like wait hold on wait a minute
10:28it's the mid-stave in the loop sports radio 610 i gotta give a special special salute
10:36to a legendary news anchor in houston by the name of melanie lawson who announced that she is
10:43retiring after a 43 journal uh 43 year journalism career and she released a video here's a little
10:50snippet of the video she released i first walked through the doors of abc 13 in 1974 as an intern
10:58a college student thrilled just to work at the station my family watched for most of my life
11:03in fact my first time on the air was a mistake i shadowed a reporter several times and while we
11:09were covering a drowning i said can i ask a couple of questions and get some information from the police
11:14he said sure i came back wrote up the story got it edited it and handed it in to my producer
11:21he naturally assumed i'd been cleared by the news director i had not but he put it on tv without
11:27asking anyone else well when the story hit the air the news director came screaming down the hall he
11:33wasn't happy but he said the story wasn't too bad and he let me stick around for a while amazingly
11:39enough that was more than 40 years ago i did take a detour to law school and did about a three-year
11:45stint practicing law in new york but it didn't come close to the sense of satisfaction i felt
11:51every day at abc 13 so i realized my heart was not in writing legal briefs it was in telling your stories
11:58so that's the melanie lawson man man 40 man for i think she was at abc for 41 years 43 years was it
12:06i think maybe 41 i think she was in journalism for 43 overall but man 1974 yeah 43 years journalism
12:14career man i mean that's incredible and what a story of like first time being on air just like
12:20slid in there under the gun didn't even know here we go yeah i'm just thinking about that news
12:24right wait wait what the hell is this who is this on my tv you wasn't too bad but you know
12:30maybe we could work something out i'm just kind of doing the math here
12:35she was there she might have predated even marvin zindler yo i had not done about that wow
12:43wow yeah she was there in 74 as well as an intern yeah but i'm sure i still count that though yeah
12:49i still count that in the building uh somebody we've got a couple of people going back uh a topic
12:54here talking about the different uh their their particular professions uh trey at texas on the
12:59youtube said people find out my profession and ask uh to for help with their personal it issues they
13:04say they're a cyber security engineer and then somebody said try being a cop and strangers want
13:09to tell you everything about law enforcement nobody ever wants to talk to a banker about their job
13:13though well i want to find out are you a banker that people want to talk to their jobs where do
13:17y'all keep the money yeah i actually i would have questions for a banker not gonna lie yeah do y'all got
13:22that little button under the desk yeah is that real is that y'all really be putting ink guy in there
13:26thrill hey just for the record zindler was has been here since the 40s but started at ktrk in 1973
13:33oh so they were right there she was 72 it was right there dang that's incredible no i think she
13:40was 74 okay okay so there we go he was 73 still i mean that that that it shows you just how long
13:46she's been damn that's a long time to be at one place man incredible yeah so uh salute to her and
13:53also salute and happy trails that l l duncan yeah part ways with espn uh fully uh i guess a fully
14:01part ways i think this is a real part ways because she got another job yeah this isn't going to be
14:07like pablo torrey that technically works somewhere else but still pop up on espn shows like she is
14:12going espn weirdly enough agree agreed to do that more because it used to be if you want to leave espn
14:16you got to go yeah right like that you got to go go enjoy your fox or wherever else you go but
14:21you got it's either here or there and then espn opened up a little bit where they're like oh you
14:24can kind of go and still come through and you know get you a plate here or there yeah as you
14:29can tell i'm ready for thanksgiving yeah but um yeah no she's going to netflix full on which i
14:33find to be fascinating and netflix is like really leaning heavily into their sports thing yeah yeah yeah
14:38so that i'll be interested to see what type of role she have there and honestly what netflix
14:43are doing as far as the sports part but i did want to get to this um i guess in the spirit of
14:50el duncan um this was her at the wmba all-star game their halftime and you know how the all-star
14:56games don't have no defense at all yeah she kind of wanted to lean into the joke of it well again we
15:02hope it gets a little bit more competitive because like a girl's trip to cancun right now there's no
15:06it's a 22-point game for team college that's a wall there she is from the four-point circle
15:13second half action from gainbridge field has tips after this al you're in timeout okay god
15:18honestly i kind of love that for el like el doing sports center she kept it real in the in the in the
15:23pocket i think she she is really good when she has an opportunity to flesh out and just like
15:28sat there i thought that was great yeah she's good yeah yeah i forgot who it was like girl
15:34girl come on now but you remembered it that's all that matters that's right
