Matt Damon reacts to Ben Affleck becoming the new Batman. He'll star opposite Henry Cavill as Batman and Bruce Wayne in Zack Snyder Superman VS Batman movie in 2015.

00:00Matt Damon reacts to Ben Affleck landing Batman and addresses rumors that he'll play Robin.

00:06Hey guys, I'm Elena Scantlin and ENTV has all the details.

00:10Childhood pals Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have gone on to have an epic Hollywood romance

00:15since winning an Oscar for writing 1997's Good Will Hunting.

00:19The Oscar goes to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

00:23After Affleck was announced to play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel last week,

00:28reactions to the casting news weren't exactly positive.

00:31An online petition has even been circulating,

00:34asking Warner Brothers to strip the actor of his new superhero title.

00:38Harsh.

00:39But Damon came to his friend's defense this week,

00:41telling the Times of India that he thinks Affleck will be, quote,

00:45terrific in the role.

00:46He responded to the online backlash saying,

00:49I just think it's kind of funny.

00:50You know, he's not playing King Lear, it's Batman, certainly within his skill set.

00:55And for anyone doubting Affleck's acting abilities,

00:58Damon would like to remind them of a little movie called Argo,

01:02which won the Oscar for Best Picture last year.

01:08So if you ask Matt, Ben can totally handle Batman.

01:12Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head

01:14and whispers in a kind of gruff voice at people.

01:17Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role,

01:19and Ben will be great at that.

01:21So what about that segment of the internet that's just dying to see Matt and Ben reunite

01:25on the big screen as Batman and Robin?

01:28While there is still a chance Robin may appear in Man of Steel 2,

01:31you can all stop imagining Damon in those green tights.

01:35He tells the publication,

01:36I am a little older than Ben.

01:38I never saw Robin as older than Batman.

01:41Somebody sent me a picture, actually.

01:43It was really funny,

01:44but it's safe to say I won't be Robin.
