00:01Set to go, it's Tito Santana going up against Mr. Perfect, and you talk about two men evenly matched. Here they are, Alfred.
00:10Yes, both men are masters of perfection. One Tito Santana has mastered and perfected all his moves. He's very, very good.
00:22The other fellow, Mr. Perfect, is a paragon of perfection, and this should certainly be an intriguing contest.
00:31You want to run that by me again? A paragon of perfection. A paragon of perfection. And what an intriguing matchup. I like that, I really do.
00:42And you're right, Alfred, you really are. These two men.
00:44Tony, have you ever thought how privileged we are? We have the best view in the house. We see these matches. We're very, very close.
00:53Plus, occasionally, we get to speak to some of these men, and what a fantastic situation that is to be in. I'm absolutely intrigued by the whole thing.
01:01I would agree. I can't think of anything else in the world I'd rather be doing.
01:05Me neither. It is absolutely wonderful to be able to speak to him. I was speaking to Tito Santana before this match, and he was very relaxed, very confident.
01:16He seemed to have a very good plan in mind. He didn't divulge what it was going to be, but he's certainly very, very confident in showing that now.
01:24And not only that, it's great that the fans can decide on matches like this and come up with something as equally matched as this.
01:35Now, watch out. Stalking right on the head. Mr. Perfect had a great idea that time, but it didn't work out.
01:40No, you know, and here against Tito Santana, we see Mr. Perfect.
01:45And you know something? Here's a fellow who could have partaken in many, many professional sports had he wanted to.
01:52I do believe that several football teams were trying to get him, and I know that one basketball team in particular wanted his services,
02:02but he chose to dedicate himself to the career of professional wrestling in which his father figured so very, very significantly in the 60s.
02:13Right to the back of the neck. Mr. Perfect bounces back up, and Tito nails it.
02:18Oh, what a series of moves that happened to be.
02:21Oh, they were perfect moves against a perfect opponent.
02:26And now look at Tito. He is so happy.
02:30I was going to say cock-a-hoop then, Tony, but I know you've reprimanded me for saying that word before.
02:36What was that again?
02:37Tito Santana cock-a-hoop with a series of moves he made there.
02:41Very, very happy in other words, Tony.
02:43You know, I need to bring a pad and a pen when I announce with you sometime to increase my vocabulary as Mr. Perfect looks on.
02:54You know, the key here is who's going to wear down first, and I think both men are evenly matched as far as their resiliency is concerned.
03:01Yes, and what tremendous conditioning both men possess.
03:06Look at them, those finely trained bodies.
03:09They really are such superb athletes.
03:12And it would be difficult right at this moment to pick out somebody who would get the edge over the other.
03:21For a little while, Tito Santana did.
03:23For a little while, Mr. Perfect did.
03:25But once again, they're both extremely evenly matched.
03:30Now, Santana sending Mr. Perfect head first into the turnbuckle.
03:34Santana pounding away on Mr. Perfect.
03:36It's turning somewhat of a brawl here between these two top-flight athletes.
03:40Mr. Perfect with the feet up nicely done.
03:43That time, Santana goes down, and look how Mr. Perfect can bounce right back.
03:47Isn't that incredible?
03:49The inertia of Tito Santana coming across the ring knocked, in fact, Mr. Perfect right out of the ring.
03:56But it was Perfect who had his boot up into the face of Tito Santana.
04:01So that was a great move by Mr. Perfect.
04:03And as you said, he is such a great athlete, he just bounced right back into the ring.
04:08To the forehead, he goes, and now to the side of the head.
04:11Mr. Perfect reprimanded by the referee, but he goes right to the point of attack once again.
04:16On the head, pulling the hair of Santana.
04:19Watch out here.
04:21Boy, a football team would have liked that field goal technique right there,
04:24because he really reared back.
04:26That time connecting with the knee on the head of Santana.
04:29And if you could read lips, Justin, and it wouldn't have been very difficult anyway to read those lips,
04:34he said, now that was perfect.
04:35And it was.
04:36Yes, it was.
04:37An endorsement by both of us there, Tony.
04:39Yes, sir.
04:40One of his favorite moves, grabbing the head and flipping over,
04:43and that's got to really grind on those neck muscles.
04:47One, two, and Santana is out.
04:51Perfect thought it was over, but no, Santana escaped.
04:53Yes, he did.
04:55He is so innovative in his wrestling.
04:57He does some things that are unorthodox,
05:00but he does them so smoothly, so well done,
05:03so beautifully executed,
05:04that you would think that they were perfectly orthodox moves,
05:08but they bamboozle his opponents.
05:10At the moment, Santana is on the receiving end of some of those innovative moves.
05:15And he's coming back.
05:15And Alfred, here's a man, intercontinental champion,
05:18formerly held that title.
05:20Truly, Tito Santana, we've seen him before, coming back.
05:23He is truly one of the greatest ever to step in the ring in the World Wrestling Federation.
05:26He did, and when he held that title, he held it with a great deal of dignity
05:30and with a lot of courage, too.
05:33He did undergo an operation, a knee operation.
05:37Sometime, and people thought, well, he'd never come back 100%,
05:40but he certainly has.
05:42And although at this very moment he's not faring too well,
05:45believe me, he's a man with a lot of resiliency.
05:48He will stick in there, and he will stay with this task
05:51until he has got the upper hand, if possible, of Mr. Perfect.
05:54The abdominal stretch worked to perfection, so to speak, for Mr. Perfect.
05:59Getting the man down, hooking the leg nicely,
06:01but Santana continues to come out.
06:04But Mr. Perfect does not let up.
06:05As you take a good look at him right there,
06:07he is going right to the neck again.
06:09Now he used that hold, or that move,
06:11where he grabbed the head and flipped over top of the man,
06:13he's going right back to the neck once again.
06:15Yes, that's good, good wrestling strategy there by Mr. Perfect.
06:19And I like the way when he pins a man,
06:22he goes for every technical point there is,
06:24he takes the leg, he grips the arms,
06:27he holds the fingers tightly clasped,
06:29and the only way that Santana could get out of that
06:32was to have the perfect counter hold,
06:34which he was able to muster.
06:37Still pushing down and twisting the neck
06:40of Tito Santana, Mr. Perfect,
06:42coming with a big blow, that was right on top of the head.
06:44And now just pushes Santana over.
06:47Santana, though, did not go all the way down that time,
06:50he was trying to come back.
06:51Look at that, almost disdainfully.
06:53He's using his boot just at force,
06:56this tremendous Mexican wrestler down.
07:00And what a great representative for his country,
07:02this man is Tito Santana.
07:04However, right now, he's got to weather this storm,
07:07he's got to try and come through this one,
07:10because don't forget, at the same time as he's being punished,
07:13it is still sapping some of the strength from Mr. Perfect,
07:17and sometimes there's a moral victory
07:19if that man cannot pin you when he's pressing so hardly.
07:23Big shoulder block.
07:27And down goes Mr. Perfect.
07:30A kick out.
07:33And Perfect looking at Tito Santana,
07:36and obviously thinking to himself,
07:38what on earth do I have to do to keep this man down,
07:41to get his shoulders down?
07:43What a great match this is.
07:44What a selection.
07:46It really was.
07:47And it's really turned out to be all we thought it would be.
07:50In they go.
07:51Big foot right to the face.
07:54Santana showed a lot of patience there.
07:57He waited and waited and waited
07:59until he was absolutely sure
08:00being able to do something positive.
08:02And that's what he did with that big boot.
08:04And now it's beginning to swing in his favor.
08:07Oh, what a right hand by Santana.
08:10It actually knocked Mr. Perfect
08:12for a loop, so to speak, that time.
08:15And now Tito really getting cranked up now.
08:18All the way to the back of the neck of Mr. Perfect.
08:21And Mr. Oh my goodness, there is Rick Martell.
08:25Oh no, not at this time.
08:27Not when Santana is doing so well.
08:28And there's so much animosity between these two.
08:32I'm sure that somehow or other
08:34Mr. Perfect must have had some sort of conspiracy
08:38worked out with Rick Martell on the outside
08:41to come in, should he get in trouble?
08:44A high backdrop.
08:47And certainly this has to really, so to speak,
08:49blow the concentration of Santana
08:52who's walking towards Martell.
08:54And he certainly needs to leave Martell alone.
08:57And Martell actually needs to leave the ringside area.
09:00He really does.
09:01The referee should speak to him.
09:02But then again, the referee cannot divert his attention
09:05from what is going on.
09:06He may miss something.
09:07And look at this, a tremendous missed clothesline there.
09:09And the Mexican hammer.
09:11He's got it.
09:12He's there.
09:13Look, Martell put the foot on the ropes.
09:16So Martell becomes involved in the match.
09:18And that was certainly a win,
09:20you would think, for Tito Santana right there.
09:22Except that the referee didn't see that.
09:24Dave Hefner was down there, busy counting shoulders.
09:27And when he looked up, the foot was on the rope.
09:29He didn't see Martell put it there.
09:31And now Santana's allowing his attention to be diverted.
09:34No, he isn't.
09:35That's all he was.
09:36He's got him again.
09:38Atomic drop.
09:39Oh, and a great double axe handle on the chest.
09:43Tito Santana.
09:44As Martell hits the apron.
09:48And you know Tito can't get away from him now.
09:51Well, the referee's telling, Tito Santana,
09:53don't let your attention be diverted.
09:55And look at this.
09:56Holds the trunks.
09:58Oh, my word.
09:59He gets a three count.
10:01Oh, what a travesty that is.
10:03And look at this happy man here.
10:05So Mr. Perfect gets the win.
10:10Thanks to that man, Rick Martell.
10:11You can better believe it's down the road between Martell and that man, Santana.
