00:00Previously on MasterChef...
00:02Oh, my God.
00:03The home cooks saddled up to feed a posse of cowboys.
00:06That's a lot of freaking cowboys.
00:08But when Monty's red team bit the dust...
00:10Yeah!
00:11...they faced a pressure test.
00:12This is ridiculous.
00:13I don't believe I deserve to be in this pressure test.
00:15It was a fight to the finish.
00:17I'm not going home on an egg, dude. I'm not going home on an egg.
00:20And one of the biggest contenders of the season was eliminated.
00:23Josh, your time is done.
00:25Tonight, it's the grandest mystery box in MasterChef history.
00:32Shut your mouth!
00:34As culinary queen Paula Deen becomes judge for a day.
00:38Put some south in your mouth.
00:40And then, it's all-out war when a tag-team challenge has the contestants running in circles.
00:45No!
00:46No, no, no, no. They're still your last. Where?
00:48Oh, my God, dude. This seems impossible.
00:50And another MasterChef Hopeful's culinary dream ends in tears.
01:04Oh, there's a big... It looks like a giant mystery box up where the judges usually are.
01:08Oh, really?
01:09Yeah.
01:10We're walking into the kitchen, and there is a humongous, gigantic, like, larger-than-life-size mystery box.
01:17It's like the size of a small New York City apartment.
01:20Welcome.
01:21Hi, guys.
01:22Look at your faces.
01:28You might have noticed we have the biggest mystery box in the history of MasterChef.
01:38All right, I can't take the suspense any longer.
01:40I know.
01:41Please, let's find out the contents of this very special mystery box.
01:48Thinking horse, shark tank.
01:52Horse, shark tank.
01:54You're kind of like, you know, looking down and seeing what it is, and I see these, like, sparkly shoes.
02:04The person I knew it...
02:07Shut your mouth.
02:10Shut your mouth!
02:14Shut your mouth!
02:15What?
02:16It's Paula Deen.
02:17Shut up.
02:18Hey, y'all.
02:21Holy .
02:24It's Paula Deen.
02:27What?
02:28The pride of Savannah, Paula Deen.
02:35I couldn't be happier.
02:36I love butter.
02:37I love Paula Deen.
02:38I love Paula Deen with butter.
02:40Paula Deen is a legend in the culinary world.
02:43Let's be honest.
02:44She has her own magazine with over a million subscribers.
02:47She's written 14 amazing cookbooks, and her personality is as dazzling as her food.
02:53Sweet.
02:54We invited Paula to handpick a mystery box just for you.
03:02On the count of three, we will lift those boxes.
03:06One.
03:08Two.
03:11Three.
03:12Lift.
03:14Come on!
03:16Yes!
03:18Okay, so y'all can see that you've got in your box a whole chicken, green tomatoes,
03:23collard greens, there's grits, there's blackberries, there's hot sauce, pepper jelly, there's bacon, cream cheese.
03:33You know, there's gotta be some cream cheese in there.
03:36That is an amazing list of ingredients.
03:38I wanted them to have the opportunity to strut their stuff southern style.
03:43You know, put some salt in your mouth.
03:45Brilliant.
03:47Salt in your mouth.
03:49Love it.
03:50Before you start cooking, we have a few more surprises.
03:54My family is my everything, and I know that y'all have been separated from that kind of support for a while now.
04:02So, I arranged for y'all to get a little something from home.
04:07Shut up.
04:09So, if you'll open your drawers, y'all will find a photo of your families and a letter from them.
04:17So, we opened the drawer, and I have a picture of me and my mom, and there's a letter there.
04:29No mom or dad could ask for anything more of their daughter.
04:32Nothing was as much fun to watch as when you and your mom worked in the kitchen together.
04:36We are so proud of you.
04:38All our love and support, mom and dad.
04:50You are a living testament to what people can achieve as long as they have and will too.
04:55You are my hero.
04:56You are my best friend.
04:57You are my wife.
04:59I can't wait to see you from your awesome and loving husband, Chang Seo.
05:09Dear Felix, we haven't seen you for over a year now.
05:13Your mom and I miss you very much.
05:15We know you are working very hard these days.
05:18Undoubtedly, it's very challenging for a young lady trying to find her own career directions in an unfamiliar place.
05:26We really are longing for the return of the old days.
05:30Love, mom and dad.
05:33Christine.
05:34Yes, Chef.
05:35My goodness me.
05:36Look at that bride.
05:37Who's that lucky man next to you?
05:39My number one fan.
05:41What did he say in his letter?
05:43That he's so proud of me that I've achieved more than people with no obstacles have.
05:55Frank, look at that beautiful picture.
05:59It's my sous chef.
06:00How old is she?
06:01She's two and a half.
06:02I can't think of a greater source of inspiration today.
06:04Ah, seriously, man.
06:05If we're cooking chicken for her today, I'm going to win this one.
06:07No doubt.
06:08Great.
06:09Trust me.
06:14Today's advantage is huge.
06:17You want this one.
06:18You've got 60 minutes to create something magical from those amazing ingredients.
06:24Hand-selected by Paula.
06:25Your time, guys, starts right now.
06:27Good luck.
06:28Good luck.
06:29At first, I'm thinking, you know, it's Paula Deen.
06:30I have to make something Southern.
06:31But instead of going that route, I want to do something that's using Southern ingredients,
06:45and then kicking it up a notch.
06:50What would you do, Gordon?
06:51What would I do?
06:52I would do some braised collard with some bacon and make it quite a little bit spicy.
06:56I would love to see one of them just do the best kick-ass fried chicken I've ever put in my mouth.
07:03That would thrill me to pieces.
07:05Christine.
07:06Yes, ma'am.
07:07How are you doing, Angel?
07:08I'm good, ma'am.
07:09What are you making, Christine?
07:10I'm trying to make bacon-wrapped chicken with the jalapeno jelly and some collard greens with a little bit of cream cheese.
07:24You're definitely working with some difficult odds not being able to see, and already you're one of my new heroes.
07:34Oh, thank you.
07:35Please don't make me cry again, ma'am.
07:36I won't make you cry, I promise.
07:42If I got this money, I want to give it to my parents because I feel like they've given everything they have to me.
07:48That's my motivation.
07:51I'm making a blackberry dessert because my son, Danger, loves blackberries, so it reminds me of him.
08:00How's it going, David? What do you got?
08:01I have some greens with bacon.
08:04Holy hell.
08:05Mm-hmm.
08:06Yeah.
08:07You've got some real flavors happening here.
08:08You are not afraid today, Martinez.
08:10You are cooking with conviction.
08:1515 minutes to go.
08:19Now what are you doing, darling?
08:20So I'm doing oven-roasted chicken, and then I'm going to make, I made fried green tomatoes and fried okra, and I'm making biscuits, and I'm going to kind of put it all together with this pepper, cheesy jam.
08:26Oh my goodness.
08:27Pepper, cheesy jam.
08:28One of my favorite foods in the whole world is fried okra.
08:30Well, I hope I did it justice.
08:38Last two minutes to go.
08:39Come on, guys.
08:40Focus on that presentation.
08:41The fastest 60 minutes of their life.
08:43That's incredible, isn't it?
08:44Right?
08:45Frank's doing chicken galettes, very, very restaurant-y.
08:48A little bit risky, a little bit out of the box today.
08:50And that sounds good.
08:51There's nothing better than that chicken skin.
08:53Right.
08:54And Monty, I think the only one tonight doing a dessert.
08:57I know.
08:58I was so surprised.
08:59Let me get the chicken on the plate.
09:00Wow.
09:01Christine's got nothing on the plate yet.
09:0290 seconds to go.
09:03Come on.
09:04Christine, please start plating.
09:05Oh my god.
09:06Last 10 seconds, guys.
09:0710, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and stop, guys.
09:23Well done.
09:24Oh my god.
09:29Having carefully tasted everything throughout the challenge,
09:32the judges, accompanied by special guest judge Paula Deen,
09:36take one final look to identify three standout dishes.
09:40I'm looking down at my dish, and I'm thinking,
09:42you know, this could potentially be the one to put me
09:44in the top three.
09:45What do you think?
09:46Excited?
09:47You know what?
09:48I am excited, Gordon.
09:49I've kind of slipped a taste here and there.
09:52Good gal.
09:53They look beautiful.
09:55The first dish that we'll be tasting
09:57was one of the few that actually made fried green tomatoes.
10:01She's smiling.
10:03It's Becky.
10:04Come on up.
10:07Freaking Becky.
10:08It's always Becky.
10:09Can't she just screw up already?
10:11Hi, Mrs. Laura.
10:12Congratulations, Becky.
10:13Oh, thank you so much for choosing to try it.
10:16So I made oven roasted chicken with homemade biscuit
10:20and pan gravy alongside fried green tomato,
10:22fried okra, and pepper jelly.
10:24All right, now where is the pepper jelly?
10:27It's mixed in with the cream cheese underneath the
10:29fried green tomato.
10:35Mmm.
10:37I love that, Becky.
10:41I love sweet and savory mixed.
10:43Oh, awesome.
10:44Yum.
10:46I left you some.
10:48All of us were really nervous bringing Paula in.
11:01I mean, you know, you guys are an extension of what we do
11:05and what we represent, and you've done us proud.
11:08Great job.
11:09Thank you so much, Chef.
11:15You put food on a plate with great finesse.
11:17Great job.
11:18Thank you so much.
11:19Thank you all, Chef.
11:20Good job.
11:23All right, the second home cook that has made it into the top
11:26three took Southern ingredients to a whole other level.
11:32Please, step forward.
11:35Frank.
11:39I am kind of surprised that Frank's name is called.
11:41I don't imagine Frank cooking Southern food.
11:44Oh, man.
11:45Hi, Paula.
11:47Hey, Frank.
11:48Congratulations.
11:49Thank you so much.
11:51This is chicken roulade, bacon on the inside with peppers,
11:54onions, garlic, and green tomato, red pepper, chutney
11:57with spicy potato fries.
11:59I love it that you've chose the dark meat.
12:02The dark meat is where all the flavor is.
12:04Yes, ma'am.
12:05And it's delicious.
12:10Thank you so much.
12:14Whoa!
12:18Is that just from the pepper jelly?
12:20No, that's got cayenne in there, too.
12:22Oh, okay.
12:26It's delicious, it's tart, and it's hot.
12:28Thank you so much.
12:29I can't believe Paula Dean's eating my food.
12:35The technique is fancy and skillful.
12:41Butchery, cooking, smart.
12:43You certainly got yourself noticed.
12:45Cool.
12:51Look at the consistency here.
12:52It's really a great, great show of technique.
12:56I'm really proud.
12:57Good job.
12:58Thank you so much, Chef.
12:59Thank you so much.
13:03Okay.
13:04We're going to be tasting just one more dish.
13:06Quite frankly, we actually thought this individual
13:08was disappearing in the competition.
13:11But this dish will bounce that person back.
13:16This is their best dish so far in this competition.
13:22David.
13:24Yay!
13:28What is it?
13:29Red pepper grits with pan-roasted chicken breast
13:33and a little bit of crispy onion on top
13:35with a sprinkling of cayenne.
13:44Love the idea of what you're doing with the peppers
13:46and jalapeno through the grits.
13:47And you've taken a sort of boring, bland staple,
13:50like a grits and turn them into something tasty.
13:53Thank you, Chef.
13:54Delicious.
13:55Bloody good job.
13:57Well done.
13:59Congratulations, David.
14:01Thank you very much.
14:02What do you mean a bland, boring dish like grits?
14:06Oh, grits.
14:08Busted.
14:10I heard that.
14:11They need help, don't they?
14:12You can't just boil grits.
14:13They need help.
14:14They need love.
14:15You're right, though.
14:16You do have to help grits out, Gordon.
14:19Otherwise, they can be bland.
14:27I think that you prove that you can take very humble food
14:31and turn it into a wonderful, wonderful plate.
14:35Thank you so much.
14:43Very interesting dishes.
14:45Smart, the grits.
14:46It was quite good.
14:48I think Frank's technique, by having it taste almost like a sauce.
14:51Yeah, Becky's was the most rusty.
14:54OK.
14:55OK.
14:56That was a tough decision to make.
14:58Three remarkable dishes.
15:01As you all know, there's only one of you can actually win.
15:04Waiting to announce the winner, I'm thinking to myself,
15:06OK, I have a shot at this.
15:07I may, in fact, have the top dish of the day.
15:11This is my fourth time being in the top three,
15:13and I'm so excited.
15:14I'm just hoping, like, more than anything in the world
15:16that they call my name.
15:18It's mandatory that I win this mystery box challenge,
15:22and I better beat Becky.
15:23Paula, the best dish of the night
15:26belongs to Paula.
15:29Please.
15:30So the best dish tonight.
15:36Wish yours, Frank.
15:38Great flair, tremendous skill.
15:41Frank, the dish of the night.
15:43And you've done it proud, let me tell you.
15:45Thank you so much.
15:46It's awesome to win one of these challenges.
15:49It really just proves to me that I'm definitely
15:51a top competitor in this competition.
15:53Are you ready to see this huge advantage?
15:55You betcha.
15:57Before we do that, I'd like you all to join us
16:00in thanking this amazing lady, Paula.
16:02You've been amazing.
16:03Thank you all for having me.
16:05Y'all were wonderful.
16:06Love you, Paula.
16:08Bye, girls.
16:12Bye, guys.
16:13Bye.
16:14Bye.
16:16Best lady ever.
16:17Frank, well done.
16:19Thanks, Chef.
16:20First time you've won a mystery box.
16:22Not the last, though.
16:23This one comes with a huge advantage.
16:25Ready to see what it is?
16:26I can't wait, man.
16:27Let's go.
16:28Well done.
16:29Congratulations.
16:30Good job.
16:31Huh?
16:32Brilliant.
16:33Good job.
16:34Thanks, Joe.
16:35Welcome to the MasterChef Pantry.
16:40Come through.
16:41As the winner of the mystery box challenge,
16:43Frank is now in control of the elimination test,
16:46after which one person will leave the competition.
16:50Today, you won't be getting to choose
16:52what everyone will be cooking.
16:54We've already done that for you.
16:55OK.
16:56This next elimination challenge is all about Japanese food.
17:04Holy .
17:06It's an incredibly skillful challenge today,
17:08one that will be asking you to execute the aesthetic,
17:11the technique, and the real skill that it takes
17:13to put a sushi platter like this on the table.
17:16Wow.
17:17My first visit to Japan was one thing I wanted to master.
17:20Yeah.
17:21But to be totally honest, it's one of the most difficult
17:23things I've ever had to learn.
17:25And I've got 12 mystery stars.
17:28Here's the good news.
17:29For winning your very first mystery box challenge,
17:34you have immunity from this elimination test.
17:41Here's some even bigger news.
17:51Oh, stop it.
17:52What?
17:54Yeah.
17:55Please, come down to the front.
17:59Stop, stop, stop.
18:02Frank did not get to choose what everyone
18:05will be cooking today.
18:07That was our choice.
18:09And that is going to be Japanese.
18:15This amazing Japanese platter is exactly what we're expecting
18:23from all of you.
18:25A perfect replication of that platter there.
18:30This plate consists of stunning, crisp vegetable tempura,
18:34a California roll, two salmon sushi, two yellowtail sushi,
18:38two tuna sushi, and two shrimp sushi.
18:45Are you kidding me?
18:46Sushi chefs only make sushi.
18:48It's an extremely, extremely specific area of the culinary world.
18:54The good news, you guys don't have to make this dish alone.
18:58You are going to be broken into teams of two.
19:02The bad news is, Frank handpicked the teams.
19:08Frank handpicked the teams.
19:16We will select the worst Japanese platter.
19:20And one member of the losing team will be leaving the MasterChef
19:23kitchen tonight.
19:26Becky, Frank, paired with you, David Martinez.
19:32Becky is my biggest competition.
19:34So I'd put Becky with somebody that, first of all,
19:36doesn't know how to make sushi.
19:37Second of all, David is a disaster.
19:39So if I can put them together and they clash,
19:42I can take Becky down.
19:44Felix, Frank has paired you with Monty.
19:48Monty and Felix butt heads a lot.
19:51And having them both on the same team is definitely dangerous.
19:55Which obviously means Frank paired you with Monty.
19:59Christine and Stacey together.
20:02We are about to make MasterChef history
20:05with our first ever tag team challenge.
20:08Each team will have 60 minutes to make one dish.
20:12But you will not be cooking at the same time.
20:15You will decide which of you cooks first.
20:18And when you hear us yell, switch, you'll trade positions.
20:22Please, head to your stations.
20:25When it comes to sushi, man, honestly,
20:27I do kind of know my .
20:29I've never done it myself,
20:31but I've seen it done so many times.
20:34Decide first amongst yourselves who's starting.
20:38Okay, you should start.
20:43We have 60 minutes to recreate
20:45with this sushi master spent 150 years perfecting.
20:50Sure, let's do that.
20:52All right.
20:53All right, I had coffee today.
20:57Can the individuals not cooking at the beginning,
21:00please stand at the end of the bench.
21:04Your 60 minutes starts now.
21:07Rice.
21:08All right.
21:09Yeah, we've got to get two cups of rice.
21:10We need to rinse it a bunch of times.
21:12And the ratio is going to be about one to one
21:13with a little bit of extra water.
21:15Stacey, can you talk to me about the vegetables?
21:17Yeah.
21:18There was one broccoli floret.
21:19There was maybe two or three pieces of the carrot sticks.
21:22One strip of eggplant that I saw.
21:24Okay.
21:25Let's start some boiling water
21:26in like a medium saucepan for the shrimp.
21:28Medium saucepan, boiling water for shrimp.
21:30This is the toughest elimination test so far.
21:33They've got to work as a team.
21:34To me, this is where you stop being friendly with people.
21:36If you see someone messing up,
21:38you've got to call them out on it.
21:39Big time.
21:40First thing you know is the rice.
21:41After that, you start preparing the batter.
21:43Start cutting the vegetables.
21:44The fish is on ice, so that can sit there
21:46to the very last moment.
21:47Right, and it's raw.
21:48So, I mean, you're literally, it's just night work, right?
21:50Absolutely.
21:55All right, debone that .
21:56Monty, how are you doing?
21:57I'm doing amazing, sir.
21:58How much do you know about Japanese cuisine
22:01on a scale of one to 10?
22:02One.
22:02One.
22:03Yes, sir.
22:04Is it really that bad?
22:05Sir, I've never made sushi before.
22:06Oh, oh.
22:08Okay, set it aside.
22:08Let's do vegetables.
22:09Yeah.
22:10You know that.
22:11I mean, she doesn't really understand Japanese cuisine properly.
22:13So, how are you feeling?
22:14I feel okay, because I'm just talking to her
22:16and then we're working through it.
22:17So, I think it's going to be really good.
22:18Who's going home?
22:19Suppose we lose, Monty's going to go home.
22:21But we're not losing.
22:22Good luck.
22:23Talk to each other.
22:28You got two minutes, Christine.
22:29Is this your broth?
22:31Is this what you're making for your sauce for the tempura?
22:33That has some rice vinegar.
22:35Uh, yes.
22:36If you guys are in the bottom, too,
22:37which one of you are going home?
22:39I don't know.
22:40I guess whoever screws up, but hopefully not me.
22:41You guys are about to switch.
22:42I think you're getting ready.
22:43Yes.
22:44Okay.
22:45Five, two, three, two, one, switch.
22:50All right.
22:50Keep prepping veggies.
22:51Vegetables.
22:52Keep prepping the veggie.
22:53You have four slices there already.
22:55You don't need any more.
22:56I know, but you put them in water,
22:57and that made me nervous.
22:58Because I think that you need to get as little water
23:00in there as possible, you know?
23:01If you could start soaking the nori.
23:04Soak the nori?
23:05Yeah.
23:06You don't soak it necessarily before the sushi roll.
23:09I think you just put it in there dry.
23:11You put it in there.
23:13You put it, you soak this, you soak it first?
23:15Yes.
23:16Trust me, I got this, I got this.
23:17You're making me nervous.
23:18David and Becky are the weak team here today.
23:20The frank strategy is working, because he wants
23:23to get Becky out of this competition by putting her.
23:25With David, David will bring her down.
23:28We just need the, okay, let me just
23:30try this one thing, okay?
23:31Like this?
23:32No.
23:36So what's going on?
23:37The rice is on.
23:38The rice is on right now.
23:39Did you get it, was it, did we season the rice water?
23:41I don't remember.
23:42No, ma'am.
23:43Why would you cook the rice with no salt in there?
23:45Um, chef, it's something that I, that I quickly
23:48overlooked, to be honest with you.
23:49It's not okay.
23:54Monty, that's a pretty fancy plate we're asking you to make.
23:56Yes, sir.
23:57What are you going to do to pull your end
23:58of the weight on this team?
23:59Felix cooks sushi all the time.
24:00I'm definitely going to follow her lead on this.
24:02You think she's got the skills to carry both of you,
24:04effectively, because that's what she's doing, right?
24:05Yeah.
24:06Felix is a warrior in this challenge.
24:09This is her challenge.
24:10Christine, can you talk to me?
24:12I'm cutting the yellow tail also against the grain,
24:14like the tuna.
24:16Like the tuna?
24:16Yeah.
24:17I did it like the salmon.
24:18They're not the prettiest cuts in the world, man.
24:20I'm telling you.
24:21Just try to be quick.
24:22I think we're moving pretty slow, Stacy.
24:24Oh, I'm trying.
24:25Right, Stacy.
24:26Yeah.
24:27How are you doing?
24:28If you clean your knife every slice,
24:29you won't get all those little bits of tuna on top of it.
24:32Yes, chef.
24:32Thank you, chef.
24:33Just over two minutes to go before the switch.
24:35OK.
24:40Five, four, three, two, one, switch.
24:46Oh, sorry.
24:47All right, let's get started on the temp batter.
24:51Even if it'll sit, whip one egg in there.
24:54Whole egg?
24:55Yep, whole egg.
24:58Christine, how are you doing?
24:59I'm doing fine, chef.
25:00I'm just trying to season the rice a little bit.
25:01Good.
25:02And then I'm going to start on the tempura.
25:04Happy with the rice?
25:05I think you could use a little more seasoning,
25:06but it needs to cool down a little bit.
25:07Yeah, that's more important, isn't it, cooling it down,
25:09especially before you put the sushi together.
25:10Do you think your team's in front?
25:12I'm not sure, chef.
25:13I can't see around me.
25:16All right, David.
25:17How are you feeling?
25:18Pretty frazzled right now, sir.
25:19The batter.
25:20Are you putting egg whites?
25:21Are you whipping the egg whites?
25:22Is there an egg in there?
25:23What are you doing?
25:25I asked Becky to put some egg in the batter.
25:29She didn't, so I'm going to add egg whites
25:32to the batter myself.
25:33If your team's up for elimination,
25:34who deserves to go right now?
25:36David.
25:37David.
25:38Not me.
25:4230 seconds to go before the final switch.
25:45So Felix is literally in control.
25:47Amazing.
25:48She uses Monty again.
25:49She tells her what to do.
25:50Monty follows directions, but she has enough strength
25:52to carry that team through.
25:53She looks like she's just nailing it.
25:55Oh, my god, dude.
25:56This seems impossible.
25:58Christine and Stacy, on the other hand,
25:59are struggling big time.
26:00Yeah.
26:01The knife skills, the pair earrings, the butchering.
26:03If they look, they're at least 10 minutes
26:05behind both of the teams.
26:06Right now, I think that at risk is, I mean, Becky and David.
26:09I think David is so out of his element.
26:11I mean, serious flaws.
26:13They've over-sliced all that salmon, all that yellow food,
26:16all that tuna.
26:17And it's just sat on the board.
26:18Please, please, please.
26:19I got you.
26:20You've got to put those sushi together, OK?
26:21I got you.
26:22Just start putting the sushi together.
26:235, 4, 3, 2, 1, switch.
26:31OK, maki roll.
26:32This is make or break now.
26:34No one's got the roll done yet.
26:35No.
26:36You got this, Felix.
26:38Beautiful.
26:39All right, that's what I like to hear, girl.
26:41This is it.
26:42Stacy, just get those vegetables in there,
26:44and then pull out that crab, and then just try to do that roll.
26:47Oh, lordy.
26:49Stop putting it on the plate, guys.
26:51You got it.
26:52We need to slice that fish up.
26:53OK, come on.
26:54Oh, my god.
26:55You can do it, Stacy.
26:56Look at Stacy.
26:57I mean, Stacy is flummoxed.
26:59She's gone.
26:59Train wrecked.
27:00We haven't even seen her like this in the whole competition.
27:02It's like a tailspin.
27:03Oh, my god.
27:05No, no, no, no, no, they're until your left.
27:06Top of the left.
27:07Boom.
27:08No, they're already cut for you.
27:09Where? Right here?
27:10Right there.
27:11That's like a long, weird chunk, though.
27:13David's driving the bus, but he might
27:14be driving her off the cliff.
27:16Come on, baby.
27:16Come on, baby.
27:17Come on, baby.
27:18Last minute.
27:1960 seconds to go.
27:21Come on.
27:22Get what you can on the plate.
27:25Stacy is in trouble.
27:27What's she doing?
27:28Oh, god.
27:29This temper is horrible, dude.
27:31Oh, dear.
27:32Oh, dear.
27:33Catastrophe.
27:34Oh, man.
27:35Even wet hands to do the rice, or what?
27:38Ugh.
27:39Ugh.
27:40The rice gets pressed down into the nori.
27:41Got it. Got it.
27:42David, get it together.
27:43No, no, no.
27:44Yeah, the rice goes in.
27:45That goes last.
27:46That goes last.
27:47One flat, even plain on the nori.
27:50I have faith in you.
27:51OK, I've got the tempura.
27:53Get that California roll done, guys.
27:55Come on.
27:56Stacy, just do the roll.
27:57Do the roll.
27:58No, no, no.
27:59Please listen.
28:00Please just listen to me.
28:01Come on, guys.
28:01Pull it off.
28:06Stacy, come on.
28:07You're badass.
28:07You can do that roll quick.
28:08All right, I got it, I got it.
28:10I got this .
28:1130 seconds to go.
28:13Come on, Bex.
28:14Move the fingers.
28:15You got this.
28:16You got this.
28:17You got this.
28:18God, I want to myself.
28:19Oh, my god.
28:22Oh, my god.
28:23I have faith in you.
28:2420 seconds to go.
28:26Oh, my god.
28:27Dude, I don't have the roll, Christine.
28:2915 seconds to go.
28:3110, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 6, 5, 6.
28:3510, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and stop.
28:43No.
28:46Damn it.
28:47Wow.
28:48That was an amazing challenge.
28:51Well done.
28:53I'm looking at the plate, and I'm thinking,
28:54it looks like ,, and if this plate of sushi
28:56came to me at a sushi bar, I would send it back.
28:59So I'm like, that's it.
29:00We're done.
29:01After all the dishes have been tasted,
29:03one member of the losing team will be eliminated
29:06based on their performance during the challenge.
29:16OK, it's time to taste your dishes.
29:20Felix and Monty, come on up.
29:23Felix finished 14 pieces of sushi in 4 minutes and 45 seconds.
29:30That's about as impressed as I've ever been with anybody.
29:33Ah, very nice.
29:47Very good.
29:47Who made that?
29:48I made that.
29:49I mean, obviously, this is a beautiful dish.
29:52It's completed.
29:53This is delicious.
29:55A lot on the line.
29:56You completed all the tasks.
29:57And some of the elements are actually very good to excellent.
30:00The first thing that catches my eye is the California roll
30:06with these tobaccos, this flying fish roe.
30:09It's literally, it's glistening.
30:10It looks like a piece of jewelry almost.
30:13And then the tuna.
30:15Look at the cut on that.
30:16It's nice and even.
30:17And Monty, you did the vegetables?
30:18Yes, ma'am.
30:22Not only a really good batter, but the cookery.
30:25Really, really good.
30:26You know, the fact that you guys literally had 60 minutes
30:29as amateur home cooks, you both deserve a good pat on the back.
30:32I think that you guys did a really good job.
30:34Thank you so much.
30:35Congratulations.
30:36Thank you so much.
30:38I think you played your strengths well.
30:40Monty never made a role in life.
30:42Big deal.
30:43I'm looking at the end product.
30:46Well done.
30:47Thank you so much.
30:47You did a good job.
30:49We worked really great together as a team.
30:53You held it together.
30:54Thank you, sir.
30:55You stayed composed, unlike the two teams standing behind you.
31:00So I'm really impressed.
31:09Thank you so much, Felix.
31:10Oh no, we did good, we did good.
31:14David and Becky, please.
31:15Let's go.
31:16Do not throw me under the bus this morning.
31:18I want to win this more than anyone else here.
31:20So if they were to ask me if there's one person to blame
31:23for this, then I will point my finger fully at David.
31:27Any sauce?
31:29I was struggling at the end, but no, there's no sauce.
31:31No sauce.
31:32Do you think that looks good?
31:33No, chef, it does not.
31:35I was just so concerned with getting things on the plate.
31:39Who sliced the salmon?
31:41David.
31:42David.
31:43I mean, it looks like a dog's chewed in.
31:49I mean, you had the best of the best.
31:51Look at that.
31:53Wasabi on there, and not an ounce of wasabi on the next one.
31:58I mean, it's just, like, butchered.
32:01Who put that together?
32:03I put that together, sir.
32:04Why would you do one so clumsy like that, with loads of wasabi
32:09on there, and the other one with nothing?
32:11What does that tell you?
32:12That I was?
32:13Out of control.
32:14Out of control, sir.
32:15I mean, I expected more, to be honest.
32:18This was eye-opening for me, quite frankly, Becky, because I think today I saw a side of you
32:28that was a little bit, well, quite frankly, very disappointing.
32:31You can't lead when it's convenient, and then duck your head when the hits the fan.
32:36He seemed more comfortable cutting the fish, and he made it clear, so I held that faith in him.
32:40Yeah, but you were leading the charge.
32:42As cooks, as leaders in kitchens and in restaurants, when you lead, you lead through the good and
32:49the bad.
32:52The best thing about this plate is perhaps that everything's on it.
32:56This is greasy, disgusting mess.
32:58I don't know who would eat this.
32:59Maybe, uh, Frank's strategy actually worked in eliminating his strongest competition.
33:10I'm pissed because Becky couldn't step back.
33:12I'm pissed because she was really opinionated.
33:14I don't think Becky understands the gravity of the situation right now.
33:17Stacey, Christine, please come up.
33:19Based on their performance, the judges will decide which member of the losing team will go home.
33:24Stacey and Christine walk up, and it's so hard for me not to freak out.
33:29Because they're two of my favorite people, and apparently they didn't finish a roll.
33:34They didn't even fry their tempura.
33:39Obviously, you're missing a main component, that being the California roll.
33:45Stacey, you were working like there was a semi coming at full speed, and you were in such a panic.
33:52It was almost making me nervous to watch.
33:56The thing is, the tuna looks really nice.
33:59But the veggies, they don't have any batter on them.
34:02Mm-mm.
34:03It's a shame.
34:04I really wish that, uh, we could have seen an entire plate.
34:06Yep.
34:07You know?
34:11Who sliced the fish?
34:12I did, Chef.
34:13And who cooked the rice?
34:14I did, Chef.
34:15Mm-hmm.
34:17Rice is fine.
34:19The cut's dreadful.
34:20And what are they?
34:26Fast your fingers, please.
34:27There we are.
34:28Just there.
34:29Absolutely raw.
34:30Raw.
34:31I'm nervous.
34:32Because this is the worst performance.
34:33Absolutely.
34:34From both of you.
34:35No, no, no, no, no.
34:39There's no doubt in my mind now that we lost this challenge today, and one of us is going home.
35:04Congratulations.
35:05Felix and Monty, great job.
35:09They were the highs, but there is one low point in this challenge this evening.
35:18The losing team with the worst Japanese platter would like to see down here, and one of whom
35:28will be leaving the MasterChef kitchen in seconds.
35:34Stacy and I squeezed hands because we know we're going up there, and I'm ready to walk
35:39up that walk with her to the front.
35:41The losing team tonight, Stacy and Christine, please come down.
35:55Felix, Monty, Becky, David, congratulations.
36:00You're through to the final six.
36:02Please join Frank upstairs.
36:04Well done.
36:11This is not going to be an easy decision.
36:13We need a minute ourselves.
36:15Please excuse us.
36:16This is tough.
36:17This is tough.
36:18I don't want to melt it down.
36:19I think, yeah.
36:20Christine and I, we failed each other on a few levels.
36:21I should have done this, should have done that.
36:22I could, shoulda, woulda, coulda all day.
36:23With how much I love sushi, I never thought it would beat me down like this.
36:25I know.
36:26I am frustrated because I had a more positive attitude than Stacy.
36:27I did keep more composure than her, and I don't want to go home.
36:34They're coming out.
36:36Okay.
36:37Sadly, one of you have to leave the masoch raison kitchen.
36:59one of you have to leave the MasterChef kitchen.
37:04Both of you have been a dream.
37:06Two very inspirational, dynamic girls
37:10that have a huge passion for what they do.
37:13And I'm telling you, two incredible home cooks.
37:22The person leaving tonight is...
37:29Stacey, darling, your time is done.
37:36It's okay.
37:38It's okay.
37:44It's okay.
37:46It's okay.
37:49It's okay.
37:50It's okay.
37:51It's okay.
37:57No.
37:59Stacey, you have been an inspiration in this competition.
38:03You've got to keep your head up high, let me tell you.
38:05But that was the first time that we really saw you panic.
38:09I think today's challenge perhaps got the better of you.
38:12There was a little bit of a rare negativity
38:15that I saw coming off the sidelines
38:17and just a bit of a tailspin that cost you.
38:20But I had a special commitment
38:22because I came and pulled you out of that waiting room,
38:25brought you back in, changed my mind,
38:27and I think it's one of the best decisions I made.
38:33Well done, my darling.
38:34Come and say goodbye.
38:35It's been a complete honor, really.
38:37Well done, you.
38:38You've got a great kitchen food.
38:40Graham.
38:41Good job, Stacey.
38:44Good luck.
38:46I can only be proud of how far I've come.
38:53I don't believe there's a day that goes by
38:55where I don't think about Joe coming out with the apron,
38:59changing his mind, giving me a chance.
39:02It's been a rollercoaster.
39:03It's been a whirlwind.
39:04It's been extremely educational and enlightening.
39:08Bravo.
39:09Thank you, Joe.
39:10Complimenti.
39:11And it has broadened my dream
39:13wider than I could ever think possible.
39:16So, thank you, MasterChef.
39:18Next week on MasterChef.
39:23Everything you know is going to change forever.
39:27It's the most shocking twist of the season.
39:29What?
39:30As some familiar faces return for the ultimate challenge.
39:33And then, there's Ryan.
39:35Oh, yeah, this piece of .
39:36It's a MasterChef first,
39:37as one fallen home cook will get a chance
39:39to cook their way back into the competition.
39:42But it's not us you'll have to impress.
39:45Say hello to your six judges.
39:49One potato, two potato.
