Facing criticism that his original 28-point peace proposal was “too favorable to Russia,” Trump pushed back, insisting the plan was misunderstood. He told reporters the so-called “plan” was merely a map or concept, not a finalized agreement. Trump explained that negotiators were breaking down each of the 28 points, reducing them to 22 resolved items, which he claims are now “very favorable” overall.

00:00There were a lot of Republicans who felt that the first plan, the first 28-point plan, was too favorable to Russia. Have you changed that?
00:07Well, that was just a map. Well, that wasn't just a map. That was not a plan. It was a concept.
00:13And from there, they've taken each one of the 28 points, and then you get down to 22 points, a lot of them, and actually very favorably so.
00:23You start off by telling us the latest month with Russia and Ukraine. Are you expecting Zelensky to come visit you?
00:29We're having good – I don't know if you would like to come, but I think we should get a deal done first.
00:34We're having good talks. It started with Russia. We're having some talks with Russia.
00:41Ukraine is doing well. I think they're pretty happy about it. I'd like to see it end.
00:46And we won't know for a little while, but we're making problems.
00:51We settled eight wars, and I thought this would be one of the easier ones because of my relationship with President Putin.
00:58But this is probably one of the more difficult ones. It's a lot of hatred.
01:02Mr. President, you can simply make some fun, and you still want to be –
01:07Yeah, a few.
01:08Can you tell us what it's all?
01:09Well, it's just the standard things, but people are starting to realize it's a good deal for both parties,
01:14and they've got to stop the war. They're losing a lot of people, a lot of soldiers, mostly soldiers.
01:19You've got to leave a free plan.
01:20You've got to leave a free plan. I've been sufficiently engaged in this.
01:22Well, that was in a regional proposal, and then from there we went back and forth.
01:29So when it comes to a seeding plant, a drug is not civil, it's made a press match in Washington.
01:34Well, they're talking about going land both ways and trying to clean up a border.
01:39You know, you can't go through the middle of a house. You can't go through the middle of a highway.
01:42So they're trying to work something. It's a complicated process. It doesn't go that quickly.
01:48Do you think about the U.S. security guarantees and –
01:53Well, we're working that out with Europe. Europe will be largely involved in that. We're working that out with Europe.
01:59Europe really wants to see it end in Boston.
02:01There were a lot of Republicans who felt that the first plan, the first 28-point plan, was too favorable to Russia. Have you changed that?
02:09Well, that was just a map. Well, that wasn't a map. That was not a plan. It was a concept.
02:15And from there they've taken each one of the 28 points, and then you get down to 22 points.
02:20A lot of them were solved, and actually very favorably solved. So we'll see what happens.
02:26Do you think – do you think that Russia – that Ukraine was being asked to give too much land back to Russia?
02:31I know at one point you said they wouldn't have to give any –
02:33It's really up – look, the way it's going, if you look, it's just moving in one direction.
02:40So eventually that's land that over the next couple of months might be gotten by Russia anyway.
02:46So do you want to fight and lose another 50,000, 60,000 people?
02:51Or do you want to do something now?
02:52Well, in some cases the land is going in the other direction.
02:56So they're negotiating. They're trying to get it done.
03:00You want to have a border? You can't have a border that goes through a highway or a border that goes through the middle of a town.
03:06So it doesn't work.
03:08So it's a long – it's a long, complicated process.
03:11Very sad because so many people are being killed.
03:14What's the next step?
03:16They're going to keep talking. They're talking to Russia now.
03:18So Steve Witkow is going over, maybe with Jared. I'm not sure about Jared going.
03:23But he's involved in the process. Smart guy.
03:26And they're going to be meeting with President Putin, I believe, next week in Moscow.
03:32Next week in Moscow?
03:33I think so, yes.
03:34What kind of concessions are the Russians going to have for me?
03:37Well, they're making concessions.
03:39Their big concession is they stop fighting and they don't take any more land.
03:43Again, it's a war that would have never happened if I was president.
03:46This was not anything that was going to happen.
03:49This happened because of stupidity.
03:53It's too bad.
