00:10In a post on X on Tuesday, Shamsul Iskandar said he was aware of attempts to target him
00:16over a letter of support he issued for contractors involved in a hospital project which he feared
00:21could tarnish the image of the Madani government.
00:24He said he decided to defend himself against such attacks and had tendered his resignation
00:29to the Prime Minister on Tuesday morning.
00:33On November 18, Anwar confirmed in the Dewan Rakyat that he had reprimanded his political
00:38secretary over the letter, which was issued last year, without explicitly naming Shamsul
00:44Iskandar.
00:45Anwar said government rules and principles do not allow such actions.
00:50His remarks came in response to a supplementary question from Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadli Shari,
00:57who sought clarification over allegations that the Prime Minister's political secretary
01:02had issued a letter of support to the Health Ministry listing contractors for a 2024 hospital
01:08project.
01:09Ahmad Fadli noted that only two of the six contractors mentioned in the letter were qualified.
