00:00Shador Sanders' time as QB1 in Cleveland is still ticking.
00:06On Monday, the team announced that he will remain the starter
00:08as they prepare for a Week 13 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
00:14But is he the QB1 that he said the Browns franchise has been looking for?
00:19I don't know about that just yet, but he did get off to a pretty good and historic start.
00:24Shador became the first rookie starting quarterback to win his debut in Cleveland
00:28since 1995.
00:31I will say that again, people, since 1995.
00:35Just think of the laundry list of rookie quarterbacks the Browns have had since then.
00:39I'm talking Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, Brady Quinn.
00:44This list goes on and on, and it's actually pretty embarrassing.
00:47But Shador was good.
00:49He wasn't great in his debut, which was a win over the struggling Las Vegas Raiders.
00:55He was efficient.
00:56He went 11 for 20 for 209 passing yards.
01:00He threw a touchdown, but he also threw a pick.
01:02But to me, the one stat that probably stands out most from his performance
01:07and the reason Kevin Stefanski had no choice but to start him again
01:11is he had completions of 66, 52, and 39 yards.
01:17That's three big plays in the passing game.
01:19To put that in some sort of perspective for you all, Dylan Gabriel, the other rookie quarterback
01:25that the Browns drafted and started over Shador, had only one pass over 20 yards out of his
01:30184 attempts this season.
01:33And Joe Flacco, who started the season as a starter, had zero completions of 20 or more
01:39yards before he was traded and sent off to the Bengals.
01:42Now, Shador also played well enough to get a tweet of praise from President Trump.
01:47But in my opinion, it's perfect timing for Shador to be the starter.
01:52No pun intended.
01:53You just played the Raiders defense.
01:54They're trash.
01:55You play the 49ers defense this week, who ranks, what, 16th in passing yards allowed per game
02:00and 24th overall.
02:02Then he gets a chance to go head to head with his boy and number one overall pick Cam Ward
02:07and the Titans before possibly playing the Bears, Bills, and Steelers.
02:13Shador Sanders, officially QB1 in Cleveland.
