00:00Trump claims high poll numbers. President Donald Trump declared Saturday that he has achieved the
00:05highest poll numbers of my political career, a claim that sharply contrasts with multiple
00:10recent national surveys showing declining approval. Trump posted the statement on Truth Social,
00:16saying his economic policies would soon be fully appreciated and praising his record on foreign
00:21relations, border security, and crime. He also predicted that the economy, highlighting what
00:27he called the highest stock market ever, would soon rank as voters' top priority. Trump did not
00:33specify which poll he was referencing. His claim came shortly after a Fox News survey reported that
00:3941% of Americans approve of his job performance, while 58% disapprove. CNN analyst Harry Enten
00:48described the last 10 days as probably the worst polling stretch of Trump's second term,
00:53calling the numbers atrocious. Enten noted that several November polls placed Trump significantly
00:59underwater. Marquette University Law School found him 14 points below water, tied for the worst in
01:05that poll's history for Trump. Fox News and Marist each reported him 17 points underwater, Reuters' Ipsos
01:12put him 22 points underwater, and A.P. Nork recorded his deepest deficit, 26 points. CNN anchor John
01:19Berman called the numbers horrific, prompting Enten to explain that Trump's biggest challenge is with
01:24independent voters. In January, Trump was only 4 points underwater among independents. Poor, but not
01:31catastrophic. Now he is an extraordinary 43 points underwater in the latest polling averages.
01:38When you have 43 points underwater with independents, you're doing terribly, Enten said, warning that if the
01:44trend continues into the next midterm elections, Republicans could lose both the House and Senate.
01:49He added that Pew's validated voter data showed Trump roughly even with Kamala Harris last year among
01:55independents. But the new numbers reflect a dramatic collapse in support.
