One common returns myth shoppers need to know before ChristmasSource: BBC
Transcript
00:00The big thing that people get wrong is assuming that we all have a right to just return things
00:05because we don't want them. And I think to be fair, lots of shops do offer that sort of policy,
00:10the returns policy, so we can take it for granted it's our right. It's not. Under the law, if you
00:15buy in-store, then you have the right to return only if the good is faulty or if it's not as
00:21described, it's not as the way that they advertised it. So if you buy something, you get it home,
00:26it's not working, it's not satisfactory quality, you absolutely have the right to take it back to
00:30that shop, say it's not working, I would like a refund. And if you do that within 30 days,
00:35a refund is what you should get. After 30 days, then you might have to, they have the right then
00:41to repair it or replace it first, and then you might end up with a refund.
