00:00Hey everyone, thank you for watching InStudio. We are here with Jennifer Lopez. How are you today?
00:08I'm great. Thanks for coming in. You got your coffee, you're here to hang out.
00:12I do. We're doing being cash right now.
00:14Cash. It's a very cash talk. So much to talk about. You have a new sauna, World of Dances
00:18is about to premiere. But I want to talk about Shades of Blue. So playing Harley, what about
00:24that character has impacted you the most over the years, I guess?
00:27I mean, I've played her for three years. This season that you're about to see is probably
00:31the most intense of the three. And I don't know, you know, we announced it as our last
00:37season and it was so bittersweet for me because I hated having to leave this character. She,
00:44honestly, of all of the movies and things that I've done, is a character that has really kind
00:50of permeated my soul in a way that helped me grow and look at life differently and
00:57be stronger. Because she's so much stronger and tougher than I am in any way, shape or form.
01:01It was just, it was just a really special character to play. She was so complex and so dedicated
01:08and committed to her daughter and her family and, you know, her cop family. And, and, and
01:14still so coloring outside the lines of morality and ethics and what's right and what's wrong.
01:22And it was, it was just, it was a pleasure. For an actress, it's, it was like a dream role.
01:27Yeah.
01:28And, and I will, I will miss her. I will really miss her.
01:32That's awesome.
01:33Yeah.
01:33Is there, do you think you'll ever get like a role like that again?
01:36Where, where it's like a Harley character?
01:38I hope so. I, I mean, you know, in a, in a different way.
01:41Yeah.
01:41In a different way because I really feel like I, I did that and I did it for three years and it, and it, you know,
01:46you know, being in, in that skin for 12 to 16 hours a day, five days, weeks for six to seven months out of the year,
01:53it does something to you and, and you know, I, hopefully I'll, I'll get something that I, yes, I absolutely will do many things that I enjoy like that.
02:05But how it will affect me. I don't know. I know that this one did. I know that this one did.
02:09And it, and it made me a stronger, better person, made me look at life a little bit different.
02:13That's really great. Now your new song dropped last week.
02:16Yes.
02:16The music video was great.
02:18Thank you, thank you.
02:19What was shooting that music video like?
02:20It was fun.
02:21How was it different than I guess your other resume of music videos?
02:24Um, I know, I know, also many, yeah, um, this was, this was really fun.
02:30I think it was the one I was most excited about in a long time to do this video and the whole idea of this kind of all these queens coming together and talking about this guy who wants to propose.
02:42Do you have a favorite queen in there who wants to propose to you?
02:44I mean, I love the Asian queen.
02:45You couldn't see her face because they put this thing on her face, but it was so gangster.
02:49It was so amazing.
02:50It was so cool.
02:51But all of them, the African queen, look, I mean, all of them, all of them, all of them, all of them were just amazing.
03:16The Nordic queen, all of us, and I just felt like, you know, that whole idea of all these queens coming together and this one king having to fight before he could even get down on a knee to propose to her.
03:27That it was just very symbolic of how we should look at ourselves and we're not just queens, we're goddesses and people have to fight to be in your life and you have to understand your worth and your value.
03:37And it was a lot of fun to do and kind of put that out there and understand that that's what the song is about.
03:45That's awesome.
03:45Are you recording other new music right now?
03:47You're in the studio?
03:48Yeah, I have another song that's going to come out in the next couple of weeks, I think around in the middle of May with Cardi B and Khaled called Dinero.
03:57You know, I'm about like women speaking up and demanding what they want.
04:03I want my ring, I want my money, you know what I mean?
04:06It's just like, what's up?
04:08And I feel like that's where the world is at right now and I'm always very influenced by obviously in my music what's going on in my life but in the world and it just feels like that.
04:19It's like we don't have to mince words anymore, you know, we found our voice, we're being strong, we're standing up for ourselves and how do you make that into fun, danceable music?
04:28That's so great.
04:29Speaking of dance, World of Dance, about your premiere, what's the best part of being back for season two and what were the conversations like going into this season, kind of keep it different?
04:38You know, we were like, it's got to be better than last year, that's what the conversations were like, what are we going to do?
04:44And it was just about scouring and really finding the right talent and the conversations really were just like, how do we make it better than last year?
04:52Because the first season was so phenomenal and it so far exceeded all of our expectations that we were like, oh crap, now we have to make it even better this time.
05:02But it was good because now everybody knew what the show was so we attracted a lot more talent than even the first year.
05:08We all kind of were more in our comfort zone and knew what we had to do and it was just, everybody was like, okay, now we know what we're doing.
05:17Like the first time it's kind of like a trial thing and it was like, oh, it worked, it was great.
05:21Now it's, now we're really going to kick into high gear.
05:24Now season one, you guys filmed it without any of you guys dancing or without you, Derek, Neo and Jenna dancing?
05:29Right.
05:29Season two, are you guys dancing together?
05:31We dance a little bit in a promo.
05:33Okay.
05:33We tried last year, but they, I don't know what happened.
05:36It got cut?
05:37No, it didn't get cut.
05:39Yeah.
05:39It was like for a, we did it in my, my house and I just don't think that it was just like, it wasn't enough for what the show was.
05:46And then we were like, no, we really have to do something.
05:49We can't just like play it doing something.
05:51So this year we planned something.
05:53Oh, that's great.
05:53Yeah.
05:53Can't wait to watch.
