George Lopez and daughter Mayan Lopez dish on attending the 2024 Emmy Awards together and talk about what it's like to work together on their show 'Lopez vs. Lopez.' Plus, they tell THR on the red carpet who they are rooting for tonight.

00:00We're here tonight, Emmys, it's a big day, here together.

00:04How is it attending together, and what are you guys most looking forward to tonight?

00:08I'm so excited, you know, this is my first Emmys.

00:10He hasn't been here since 2005 when he hosted.

00:14I was a child.

00:15Exactly.

00:17I want to see people my age win.

00:19We were in different classes around the same time.

00:21No, but I'm so excited.

00:24You know, this is my first Emmys, I've always wanted to be here,

00:27and it's just a dream come true.

00:29And to, you know, we work together, and to be, you know, in this company is really amazing.

00:33All you've got to do is be on television.

00:35Yeah!

00:36It's an amazing job.

00:37It's a little hurdle to overcome, but, you know, it's not impossible.

00:39And you're reminded of that tonight, of the magic, and why you're, you know, here,

00:43and with all the people that, you know, are in your company.

00:46Yes, and you all have created such an amazing show yourselves.

00:50The fans have loved it.

00:52What has been some of your favorite reactions and favorite moments of working together so far?

00:57Oh, man.

00:58Sometimes I confuse real life for TV, and that's when I've crossed a line.

01:02Yeah, sometimes I'll be like, Mayan, you read that line angry, and I'm like,

01:05oh, that was me, not Mayan, the other Mayan.

01:09So, you know, that's like, we always kind of, like, discover each other.

01:12We do a lot of physical comedy together, and, you know, I feel like we're making up for lost time.

01:17I even thought that kid I left in her room to draw would be so much fun as an adult.

01:23I was writing jokes, making my revenge.

01:25See, I mean, it worked out.

01:27Yes.

01:28I used to walk by the window, I tried to duck.

01:30That!

01:31With my golf club.

01:33Now, do you all ever have to do that on set?

01:35You said, you know, the Mayan, you have to remember which Mayan it is.

01:38Do you all have to ever be like, hey, I just need you to be dad right now, or we're being professional?

01:42How does that work?

01:44Yeah, well, I call her Shmayan.

01:45I call her sitcom Mayan, because it just gets very meta.

01:49No, there's, you know, there's some times where, also, it's like co-star and dad, where

01:55I think where, once that door opens, like, you know, we have the moments where, you know,

02:00we'll hug and we'll have those, you know, touchy moments, but then it's also, we have

02:04a respect for one another that's like, we have a job to do and we're able to do it.

02:08And when I feel like I'm a little dead inside, I'm like, all right, perfect, I'm in character.

02:11Mom!

02:12I don't have to act today.

02:14I love this.

02:16So early, I was locked in.

02:18Now, is there any show in particular tonight that you all are secretly, like, rooting for

02:22that you have been fans of?

02:24There's so many amazing shows, so many first-time nominees, so much history being made tonight.

02:28What about tonight excites you the most with the shows that are in these categories?

02:33I mean, I'm presenting Best Actor in a Comedy, and then you have, you know, Mr. White, then

02:37you have Steve Martin and Martin Shorten in the same category.

02:41So, for me, it's a bit of a yin and yang, a beautiful thing.

02:46The new guys, and then, you know, you like to see such a great show.

02:49One of those guys.

02:51Yeah, I'm rooting for Gene Smart in Hacks.

02:53I absolutely love, love, love that show.

02:58Abbott Elementary.

02:59I really agree.

02:59Yeah, so I'm, like, really, really excited.
