00:05The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off this week and The Hollywood Reporter has you covered throughout with everything you need to know.
00:11But I'm here to help you right now with the five must-see movies at the festival.
00:15First, let's talk about the dark comedy Flower, which stars Zoe Deutsch as a rebellious suburban teen searching for validation and acceptance in all the wrong places.
00:25Catherine Han and Adam Scott are also in the movie.
00:27There's also the offbeat adventure tale, Dabka.
00:30Based on the true story, it stars Evan Peters as inexperienced journalist Jay Bahadur as he embeds himself in Somalia to write a book.
00:38Barkhad Abdi, Al Pacino, Melanie Griffith and local non-actors are also among the cast.
00:43The news only gives you snapshots of famine, piracy, terrorists, but the Somali people are so funny, says director Brian Buckley of showcasing the country's lighter side.
00:53The fest also has a ton of strong documentaries, including Acorn and the Firestorm.
00:59Ruben Atlas and Sam Pollard co-direct the doc about the controversial community organizing group, which became a major player in the 2008 presidential election that resulted in Barack Obama's victory.
01:09Remember when Republican candidate John McCain called out the group for destroying the fabric of democracy?
01:14There's also LA 92, an unfiltered look at the Los Angeles riots that erupted 25 years ago in the wake of the acquittal of the four officers charged with beating Rodney King.
01:25And finally, Get Me Roger Stone.
01:27No, really, that's the name of our fifth movie.
01:30Donald Trump makes an appearance in the Netflix film about the life and career of his old friend, political trickster Roger Stone.
01:37Stone, according to one of the directors, is happy to have this vile reputation.
01:41All right, so those are your five must-sees, but we had to leave off one of the original lineup's buzziest films, No Stone Unturned, and that's because you actually can't see it.
01:50Alex Gibney's documentary about the fatal World Cup viewing at an Irish pub in 1994 has been pulled from the festival due to outstanding legal issues.
01:59It all begins with the premiere of Clive Davis, the soundtrack of our lives at Radio City Music Hall.
02:04The director told The Hollywood Reporter to look out for the super emotional Whitney Houston section of the documentary.
02:10And oh yeah, there are a few epic live performances after the premiere by a few people you may have heard about.
02:16Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Carly Simon, Earth, Wind & Fire, and more.
