Von der Leyen: EU role in Ukraine peace must be 'fully reflected'
The European Commission chief emphasised that Ukraine must freely choose its destiny and highlighted the EU's role in ensuring peace. Key conditions include no forced border changes and no limitations on Ukraine's armed forces.

00:00In a statement, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Ukraine must have the freedom and sovereign right to choose its own destiny.
00:11The message comes as Ukrainian, EU and top US officials are meeting in Geneva on Sunday to discuss Ukraine's peace plan.
00:20As von der Leyen announced, the three elements the bloc has agreed upon to ensure a lasting peace and Ukraine's sovereignty.
00:30Borders cannot be changed by force.
00:33Second, as a sovereign nation, there cannot be limitations on Ukraine's armed forces that would leave the country vulnerable to future attack and thereby also undermining European security.
00:46Third, the centrality of the European Union in securing peace for Ukraine must be fully reflected.
00:53On Saturday, Western allies worked to revise the US peace plan, which they believe leans too much in Moscow's favour.
