A new five-minute quiz launched by the Government and the NHS, and backed by Radio 1 stars Melvin Odoom and Rickie Haywood-Williams, will give people across England personalised steps to boost their health, mood and energy. The Healthy Choices Quiz offers people a chance to learn how simple lifestyle changes could help them to improve their health and wellbeing, based on research from University College London (UCL).The Department for Health and Social Care says four steps can help improve people’s health, including not smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, regular exercise and eating at least five portions of fruit and vegetables per day.But UCL research, based on data from the Health Survey for England and the Office for National Statistics, suggests 19 million adults in their middle years are failing to meet at least one healthy behaviour guideline.Radio 1 DJs Melvin Odoom and Rickie Haywood-Williams have backed the new campaign to encourage people to take better care of themselves.
00:00The NHS have launched the Healthy Choices Quiz, so this is a new quiz to help people take the first steps to a healthier life.
00:05Yep, that's right. It asks you questions about health and well-being, gives you a score and NHS tips and advice.
00:11Having a young family and whatnot, I want to make sure that I'm there to see them grow up.
00:16How many portions of fruit and vegetables do you usually eat in a day?
00:21Right on the TV, I love a sweet treat. I've got you to blame for that because you keep tenting me with cakes. I've got such a sweet tooth.
00:26Was I surprised when I saw the results?
00:28You thought it would be worse?
00:30I thought it would be way better.
00:32There's work to be done, but you can do it incrementally, bit by bit, and you can do it in an easy way, right?
00:39I feel like generally I'm quite active, but we sit down a lot at work and then my eating can be quite bad, so there's little tricks that we can do.
00:48You love cakes.
00:48I love my cakes. I love my sweet treats.
00:50But yeah, I was quite surprised, but I think this is the whole purpose of this quiz, so we can work out how we can make these changes and then have a healthier life.
