00:00Skincare is more than just pampaganda, it's our protection.
00:27Good morning, Doc. Welcome back dito sa Rise and Shine, Pilipinas.
00:32Good morning, everyone.
I'm a little bit under the weather today.
00:39But rise and shine po sa ating lahat.
00:41Parang nag-video kay ata kagabi si Dr.
00:44Dr., good morning.
00:53Okay, so cellulitis is a bacterial infection ng skin and ng tissue sa ibaba ng skin natin.
01:04So, ang pinagkaiba nito ng ibang infection are caused by fungi.
01:12But this one is specifically caused by bacterial infection.
01:17So, pinaka-common na cost nito, excuse me, would be your staphylococcus and streptococcus.
01:24What is pinaka-unique dito sa cellulitis is it can happen at any parts of your body
01:47And usually, ang pinakaiba nito sa ibang skin infection is that it's more widespread
01:55rather than demarcated by a border.
01:58So, minsan makikita natin kapag we have cellulitis, red lang yung nakikita natin,
02:04walang demarcation. So, it's usually caused by bacterial infection.
02:33Either caused by sugat or caused by kagat ng insekto, no?
02:42or nagkakaroon ng sugat, no?
02:44Another, no, would be kapag nakakaroon ng animal bite, no?
02:48Na hindi nalinisan, no? Hindi na-disinfect, no?
02:52Another would be kapag nagkakaroon ng piercing sa part ng katawan natin
02:57na hindi natin naalagaan or hindi natin nalilinisan all the time, no?
03:03Other causes of cellulitis, of course, would be kapag magkaroon ka ng skin condition,
03:10no, ng chronic, no?
03:11For example, doon sa mga immunocompromised nating patients, no?
03:16Kapag, kunyari, nagkakaroon sila ng non-healing mood, no?
03:20That can actually cause cellulitis, no?
03:22Yung iba, kapag weakened yung immune system nila, no?
03:26That's another risk factor of cellulitis, no?
03:29Because, again, no?
03:32If our body is overwhelmed with bacteria, no?
03:35Mas nahihirapan ang immune system natin to fight it off, which can cause bacterial infections such as your cellulitis, no?
03:43Another would be kapag yung timbang natin medyo mataas, no?
03:47If our weight or BMI is classified as obese, no?
03:50We're more likely to develop cellulitis than those who have normal BMI.
04:13Mm-mm.
04:14Okay.
04:15So, of course, no, what we mentioned earlier, no, yun, dun yung sa pinaka-mga at-risk talaga, yung may mga weakened immune system or nasa immunocompromised na state, no?
04:27So, usually, pagkita natin sa mga bata, no, kasi yung immune system nila hindi pa ganoon mature, and then minsan, yung hygiene din nila, no, minsan kailangan pa natin i-supervise, no?
04:39So, pagkita natin ito sa mga bata, no?
04:41Another, no, would be kapag may chronic disease ka na kunyari, you have a long-standing na diabetes, especially yung diabetes na hindi na nakokontrol yung blood sugar, no?
04:54Because of that, no, nagkakaroon ng mga non-healing wound, no, which can further make you at-risk doon sa cellulitis, no?
05:02Another, yung sinabi ko kanina, kapag yung timbang natin, no, medyo mataas, no, yung BMI natin medyo nasa obese na category, no?
05:11So, we're more likely to have cellulitis because, of course, of other comorbidities na dala ng ating condition as well.
05:20Dok, nabanggit nyo na ang cellulitis is caused by bacteria.
05:37Okay, number one pa rin, no, because it's a bacterial infection, no, ang pinakagamot pa rin dyan would be antibacterial, antibiotics.
05:47Usually, we give bicloxacillin or cephalexin for that, no?
05:51Means, binibigay namin oral, no, kapag natotolerate or kapag hindi pa ganun kalala yung cellulitis,
05:58pero kapag meron ng widespread infection or may nakikita na kaming sintomas ng sepsis, no, kasi pwede siyang lumala to sepsis, no,
06:07ang ginagawa natin, inadmit natin siya sa hospital, no, binibigyan natin ng IV antibiotics, no?
06:14Another, no, way for us to prevent yung spread ng cellulitis is, of course, observing proper hygiene pa rin, no?
06:24Usually, yung iba sa atin, yung antibiotic, kunyari yung penicillin or amoxicillin, nilalagay doon sa area na may gut, no?
06:34Let's avoid doing that, no, kasi hindi po yan yung gamot, no, for cellulitis, no?
06:40Um, since it's a systemic disease, no, kailangan pa rin natin yung oral antibiotics or yung IV antibiotics for that.
06:49Other home remedies would be warm compress, um, minsan kinukompress natin yung area to help reduce yung swelling,
06:59na-improve yung blood flow, no, another would be minsan in-elevate natin siya.
07:03And, of course, no, symptomatic relief through, um, uh, NSAIDs, no, yung mga over-the-counter drugs,
07:11such as your ibuprofen, your paracetamol, no, can help, no, of course, with the pain and with the swelling.
07:18Oo, hindi pala totoo yun, yung nilalagay yung, uh, antibacterial.
07:22Hindi siya topical. These medicines are meant to be taken orally.
07:42Yes. Oo, no, um, an in-expect natin usually kapag tayo may cellulitis.
07:50Of course, no, kapag na-diagnose siya ng early, no, naagapan natin, nagbigay tayo ng treatment earlier on, no,
07:57usually, no, after a week, no, after 10 days, mawawala siya.
08:02However, no, kapag, um, kunyari, nasa sobrang immunocompromised yung state natin,
08:10o hindi natin siya naalagaan, no, pwede siya actually ma-uwi, no,
08:14pag further pa yung, um, infection natin,
08:18minsan nagkakaroon ng osteomyelitis na naapektuhan yung muscles,
08:22tsaka yung bone, no, another, no, would be,
08:26although medyo rare ito yung tinatawag nating necrotizing fasciitis, no,
08:31usually, nagkakaroon ng necrosis na namamata yung flesh
08:36or yung namamata yung mga tissue natin below, no, the skin and below the tissues of the skin, no.
08:43Another, no, would be yung sinabi ko kanina, yung, ah, septic shock, no, or sepsis, no,
09:15hugasan siya, no, and if possible, no,
09:31That was Dr. Vaya Galvan.
09:33Dr. Rivia, maraming salamat.
09:36Maraming salamat po.
