Colman Domingo is set to play Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, in a biopic about the late king of pop. The Lionsgate film titled 'Michael' is in production and slated for a global release on April 18, 2025. Michael Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson is set to play the pop singer in the film.

00:16in the film. Joe Jackson was the controversial patriarch of the celebrated musical family
00:20and the architect of the Jackson Five. He died in 2018 at age 89. Domingo said of taking on the role,
00:26Not only am I fortunate to have a rich, complex, and flawed character to portray in Joe Jackson,
00:32but I also have a front row seat for Jafar's incredible transformation. After seeing him
00:36in rehearsal, my mind was blown. This news comes following Domingo's critically acclaimed and
00:41Oscar-nominated performance in the 2023 film, Rustin. We are going to put together the largest
00:48peaceful protest made up of angelic troublemakers such as yourselves. During The Hollywood Reporter's
00:54most recent Actors' Roundtable conversation, Domingo shared this about working on Rustin.
00:59Honestly, there's those roles that we, I don't know if we wish for, but we hope for,

01:10been in this industry, from regional theaters to off-Broadway to writing to directing, you name it,
