00:35This year marked a new era for the Golden Globes.
00:37The 2024 ceremony had a new voting body of 300 journalists from around the world.
00:42The show also nixed the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett Awards for this year's ceremony.
00:47First time Globes host Joe Coy kicked things off for the big night with an opening monologue
00:52that wasted no time cracking some rather bold jokes
00:54about some of this year's biggest film and TV nominees.

01:12Early big wins of the night included Divine Joy Randolph
01:15for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for The Holdovers,
01:18Robert Downey Jr. for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Oppenheimer,
01:22and Steven Yeun and Ali Wong for Best Actor and Actress in a Limited Series for their work
01:27on Beef, with Wong making history as the first actress of Asian descent to win in the category.
01:33I really need to thank Sunny so much for creating such a beautiful show and inviting me to be a part
01:40of it and the friendship that I made with you and Steven and Jake and the rest of the cast and crew
01:47will always be the best thing that came out of Beef.
01:51Among the night's most memorable moments, all eyes were on Taylor Swift,
01:54who had the whole place shimmering in her reputation-esque gown,
01:58cheering on her fellow nominees and having herself a night.
02:01Swift went into the night nominated for this year's brand new category,
02:04Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
02:06Big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL.

03:09the bear walked away the big comedy winners,
03:11with Jeremy Allen White winning for Best Actor and Iowa Debrey for Best Actress.
03:16Yeah, this just really means a lot.
03:18There's so many people who I probably forgot to thank.
03:20Oh my God, all of my agents and managers' assistants.
03:25The people who answer my emails.
03:29And for TV drama, Succession held on strong with Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin
03:33walking away with trophies for Best Actress and Actor.

03:40As for film, the big wins of the night went to Emma Stone,
03:44who won Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy
03:47for her role in Poor Things,
03:49and Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers for Best Actor, Comedy, or Musical.
03:53Killian Murphy won Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for Oppenheimer,
03:57and Best Actress Drama was given to Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon,
04:02who made history as the first indigenous person to win the award.
04:05I just spoke a bit of Blackfeet language.
04:09A beautiful community, nation that raised me,
04:12that encouraged me to keep going, keep doing this.

04:17Other notable wins included Christopher Nolan for Best Director for Oppenheimer,
04:22and in their Barbie-heavy category,
04:23Billie Eilish and Phineas accepted the award for Best Original Song.
04:27And speaking of Barbie, the summer mega blockbuster won
04:30in the newly created category Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
04:34Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for creating an award that celebrates movie fans.
04:40This is a movie about Barbie, but it's also a movie about humans.

04:51And finally, closing out the night, Beef won Best Limited Series,
04:55The Bear and Succession took home Best Comedy and Drama Series,
04:58and Poor Things and Oppenheimer were given the top honors of the night,
05:02taking home the awards for Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy, and Best Drama, respectively.
