Trump and Mamdani each said they had a productive meeting, and while they did not walk back their claims about each other, they conceded that they may have more in common than they had realized. Trump had previously called Mamdani a "communist," but when asked about this comment by a journalist, he stated that Mamdani has some views that are "a little out there," but he believes that Mamdani is "going to surprise" some conservatives.
