A reporter provocatively asked President Donald Trump if he was 'standing next to a jihadist' following his Oval Office meeting with New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim leader previously labeled a 'jihadist' by a Republican. Trump responded playfully diffusing the tension with humor and showing support for Mamdani despite their past conflicts.

00:00Republican Elise Stefanik has campaigned multiple times by calling Zora Mamdani a jihadist.
00:04Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist right now in the Oval Office?
00:07No, I don't, but she's out there campaigning and, you know, you say things sometimes in
00:14a campaign.
00:15Isn't that sort of divisive?
00:16She's a very capable person.
00:18Isn't that a kind of label?
00:19But you really have to ask her about that, but I don't particularly.
00:22I think I met with a very, I met with a man who's a very rational person.
00:27I met with a man who wants to see, really wants to see New York be great again.
00:31And I can say again, because New York was great.
00:35You know, when I came down to Washington initially, the city was so hot, it was doing great.
00:42We were having some telltale signs of problems.
00:45We had a mayor that was not doing a great job, but still it was moving along and it went bad.
00:53It really went, you know, pretty bad.
00:56And he can, I think it's been at lower points, but it went pretty bad.
01:00I think he can bring it back.
01:02Now the question is, will he bring it back all the way?
01:04Will he bring it back greater than ever before?
01:07Which is, I guarantee, that's his wish.
01:09I think he wants to make it greater than ever before.
01:12And if he can, we'll be out there cheering.
01:14I'll be cheering for him.
01:15Okay?
01:16Thank you so much everybody.
