00:00It's Jeff Kirkshen at the CMAs with Parmalee!
00:07Alright, right off the bat, now we usually do this thing called One Big Question where
00:12I ask only one question, but I just heard that there's a song coming out on Friday,
00:17How Do I Let You Go?
00:19And this is about losing a dad, a member of this family, a member of this band, you know,
00:25that's who our parents are, right, when they support our dreams, right?
00:28I want to hear, before I get to my one big question, I want to hear about the song.
00:32Yeah, well, so Scott and I grew up playing in my dad's band with him, he taught us music,
00:38Barry actually played in that band with us, and Josh also played with his dad, his dad.
00:43My dad in the band, yeah.
00:44He grew up in a band, so that's how we were raised, they started us in music, and unfortunately
00:50neither one of them got to see us have any success in music, they passed before we could
00:55even get a record deal, we could even come out here to Nashville, which was years ago,
00:58but something that we've always had in our hearts, and never really written about, so
01:02it's just a note to them, and some other friends we lost along the way, just saying, hey, we
01:08miss you, you're supposed to be here right now, and you know, we're okay, but we know you
01:14have the best seat in the house every night, and yeah, that's what it's all about.
01:18Gosh, I mean, it's just, it is so, you're right, because you guys grew up playing with
01:23your dad, and so music, despite being Parmalee, and being in Nashville, and being a success,
01:29every time you get out there, you probably think of the first time you strummed a guitar,
01:32or hit a snare, or whatever it might be, and that was with, you know, that important person.
01:37I do a podcast with my dad, a baseball podcast, and it has been the coolest thing in the world
01:42to take my love of, you know, speaking and telling stories, and talking about baseball,
01:48and doing it with my father.
01:49That's awesome.
01:49Yeah, that's awesome, man.
01:50And now you guys will have this song forever, for all of us who have a relationship with
01:54our father, which is just so important.
01:57I want to thank you guys.
01:58Cowgirl.
01:59Switching gears.
02:00Switching gears.
02:01It's hard, we've got to transition somehow, so might as well just step on it, and let's go.
02:05Our dads would have liked that one, too.
02:08I only have so much time, so.
02:11Anyway, love this song, love this smash.
02:14You know, it's one of the, I do morning radio, and so for me, an upbeat song is kind of what
02:20I want.
02:20I hate going like, hey, have a great morning, and it's like, wow, gosh, sorry to tear you
02:25down, but that kind of song, man, it just wakes us up, and it feels good.
02:29How fun has it been seeing this song grow, the way it has?
02:33It's so much fun, especially now that everybody's playing it, it's getting you in top 10 and moving
02:37up.
02:37And you just see it, you see the energy change when you introduce the song, you see new people
02:42at the shows, and it's just, it's just been fun since day one, but way more fun now.
02:48Absolutely.
02:49Well, this is Parma Lee here at the CMAs.
02:52Thank you so much, guys, for joining me.
02:53I really appreciate it.
