00:00The National Bike Day is on its way for a celebration featuring various activities,
00:04including an active transport bazaar and expo, as well as a hands-on event like bike lessons
00:10and a bike repair clinic. Let's get a ride for the full story.
00:16Gabrielle has been cycling for almost 20 years, not only because of its health benefits,
00:21but also because it has become an essential part of his work. This is why reliable infrastructure
00:25and ensuring his safety on the road are extremely important to him.

00:41Today marks the nationwide celebration of National Bike Day.
00:44The event is led by the Department of Transportation through the Active Transport Project Office
00:49in partnership with the Interagency Technical Working Group for Active Transport
00:53and the local government of Quezon City.
00:55In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr.'s directive to make roads safer,
00:59more inclusive, and more accessible for all, this celebration highlights the DOTR's continued commitment
01:04to strengthening initiatives that promote sustainable and people-centered mobility.
01:08These include the ongoing expansion of active transport infrastructure
01:12and the integration of safe cycling networks in both urban and rural areas.
01:16We have completed po 982 kilometers of bike lane networks in nine different regions,
01:22approximately in 30 different cities po, no?
01:25And we are planning to add more in the coming months with a total of 1,120.
01:31The DOTR aims to complete 2,400 kilometers of bike lanes by 2028,
01:36supported by an estimated budget of 5 billion pesos.
01:39We will be expecting a more connected bike lane networks,
01:44hindi na po siya putol-putol.
01:45We will be expecting an improvement din po sa existing infrastructure natin,
01:50both bike lanes and pedestrian walkways.
01:52The number of cyclists in Quezon City passing in many other areas across the Philippines
01:56also continues to grow.
01:58During the National Bike Day celebration in Quezon City,
02:01highlights include the Active Transport Bazaar,
02:03the Active Transport Expo featuring bike lessons,
02:06a bike repair clinic, and a push bike race for kids.
02:10Also featured are the QC Bike Trail and the National Bike Day program,
02:14which includes awards, recognitions, and a grand raffle.
02:17The public is encouraged to take part in the National Bike Day celebration,
02:21which runs until Sunday, November 23rd.
