00:00What was your reaction initially when you heard about Domas' injury?
00:07You know, not happy.
00:09Feel for him, obviously.
00:12We need the big fella, but it's, you know, the nature of what we do,
00:17and we know that when we sign up.
00:19So, unfortunate.
00:22Love him and hope that he, you know, gets well soon.
00:27Yes, we are.
00:30Re-evaluated in three to four weeks for DeMontis, a bonus.
00:33So, he will not be in the forward starting lineup, as you see here.
00:36It's the same starting lineup from the other night.
00:39And some of you at home are going, wait, wait.
00:41Isn't Keegan Murray back?
00:42Deuce, what's going on?
00:43He's coming off the bench tonight, apparently.
00:45Okay.
00:45You're acting like I made the decision.
00:47Deuce, Coach Deuce, Coach Deuce, what's happening?
00:49Yeah, I mean, I'm guessing, look, he has missed a lot of time here.
00:52He's missed the first 15 games.
00:53He hasn't played a game in a while.
00:54I know he played some five-on-five with the Stockton Kings in the G League
00:58during practice, but maybe it's just get him going off the bench a little bit
01:02and maybe cook a little bit with the second unit?
01:05I don't know.
01:05I mean, obviously, long-term, this guy is in the starting lineup, in my opinion.
01:10Oh, in everyone's opinion.
01:11Well, I would think.
01:12I don't know.
01:13Who are we kidding?
01:13No.
01:14Stop it.
01:15Stop it.
01:15We all know.
01:16We all know that that's what it's ultimately going to be.
01:18And, yeah, I think when you look at tonight, they're just trying to get him back in the
01:21groove of things.
01:22But also, on top of that, you look at what that second unit has brought every single
01:27game, and it's been bringing a whole different energy, and that's why I feel like maybe he
01:32can get more touches, too, with the basketball.
01:34Yeah, and I want to see Malik Monk get that opportunity to create a little bit.
01:37I like that Schroeder's getting it going and knocking down shots, which has been a huge
01:40plus for him and his confidence coming off the bench.
01:43But I think Malik, the last couple of games, has done a good job getting the offense going.
01:47And so, hopefully, he can do that coming off the bench.
01:50And then, going back to the Sabonis element of this, too, it's not just like three to
01:53four weeks, right?
01:54You re-evaluated that.
01:56I was looking at the calendar.
01:57That's like 10 to 12 games.
01:59So, that's a significant portion of the season.
02:02So, going to be interesting to see how they respond with the loss of Sabonis and how other
02:07guys can step up.
02:08Yeah, that's the biggest thing here, is that other guys are going to be seeing opportunities.
02:13Now, will this coaching staff lean into giving opportunities to some of the younger guys,
02:17Nick Clifford, Max Raynaud.
02:19It's what I think we're all hoping to see.
02:22But right now, let's get to the crossover, where Kyle and Katie are standing by in Memphis.
02:28I almost said an OKC, because it feels like it's been there every single night.
02:31They've been gone for like a month.
02:32Yes.
02:33Are you guys OK, one and two?
02:35Katie, first, I'm going to ask you this question.
02:37Both teams desperate for a W.
02:40What do the Kings need to do?
02:41What is it going to take?
02:42You know, second night of a back-to-back, I think the most important thing, really, when you
02:47look at it, it's going to be about the energy that they come out with.
02:49A lot of the times on the road, and when you're in a slump and you're in the middle of a losing
02:53streak, it's about creating your own momentum, your own energy.
02:58You've got to manufacture that sometimes.
03:00And so, I think that's going to be very, very important tonight.
03:03But listen, you know, I thought defensively was a much-improved game last night.
03:08Offensively, they did well.
03:09But it's about trying to get closer to 48 minutes.
03:11They have lulls that really start to hurt them.
03:13It was the turnovers in the third last night.
03:16Don't give this team turnovers and let them have some easy looks offensively, because they're
03:20missing key guys as well.
03:22Yeah, you know, to Katie's point, when you come to Memphis, you're used to playing John
03:26Morant and Triple J.
03:28Those two guys aren't here tonight.
03:30So, how do you manufacture that energy against some Memphis Grizzlies names that maybe you
03:35don't know aren't household names?
03:37So, you know, Doug Christie always likes to say it's not about the opponent.
03:40It's about us, and that's how the Kings got to approach it tonight.
03:44I think we're all excited to see Keegan Murray back.
03:46We know what he can do defensively out there, but what do you think he can help with with
03:49this Kings offense that's been struggling a bit?
03:52You know, I know that Doug said at the beginning of the season during training camp, he wants
03:55to see Keegan get like 10 triples up a game.
03:58That has been an area to me where the Kings are shooting a really nice clip on the season
04:03from beyond the arc.
04:04Their volume is incredibly low, though.
04:07So, if you can get Keegan back in that mix and get him kind of feeling a little bit of
04:12a rhythm from outside, but also, you know what?
04:14His rebounding, in my opinion, has been sorely missed, and we know his defense has been missed,
04:19but I think the rebounding is one thing that, you know, people do not give him enough credit
04:23for.
04:23He adds a lot in that category.
04:26Yeah, look for the spacing to be better when he's out there.
04:28You know, think about it.
04:29You throw Keegan out there with Zach and some of those other guys that can stretch the forward.
04:33Let's say it lighted with Malik also out there, and maybe that spacing will be a little better
04:38for the Kings tonight.
04:39Well, hopefully they can end that losing streak tonight.
04:43Oh, man, that would be really nice to see.
04:45You two have a wonderful call, and we'll see you at the half.
04:49All right, guys.
04:50Thanks so much.
04:50Kyle Draper and Katie Christensen coming to your court side here at FedEx Forum in Memphis,
04:55Tennessee, as we continue this five-game road trip.
04:58You know, Katie, the last 24 hours, we've had the good and the bad when it comes to
05:02news for the Sacramento Kings.
05:04DeMontis Sabonis out the next three to four weeks with a meniscus tear, partial meniscus
05:09tear in that left knee, so they'll have to go without him for the time being.
05:13And they've already missed him for five games this season.
05:16I feel like Domas has kind of been hit hard with injuries.
05:18It started out with a hamstring in the preseason.
05:21He had the rib injury in Denver that he's missed some games for and played through that,
05:25so they've got to figure it out.
05:27I mean, they've got guys that are willing and ready to step up behind.
05:30We're going to see Max Moore, Drew Eubanks, but it really is about, hey, this is part
05:35of the game.
05:35This is part of the business, and it's about the next step.
05:38Well, you know, there is some good news.
05:40Keegan Murray making his season debut, missed all the games so far because of that thumb
05:45surgery.
05:45What are you looking for from him?
05:46I'm super excited to have Keegan Murray back in the lineup, and yes, he's not starting
05:51tonight, but honestly, he hasn't had an opportunity to even practice with the team on this
05:55road trip.
05:56If he joined them in Oklahoma City, there was no shoot around today, so because it's
06:01a back-to-back, so has not had the opportunity to be on the floor.
06:05I just want to get a look at him, get back on the floor, get in a little bit of a rhythm,
06:09start working towards that conditioning.
06:11Yeah, the Kings come into this game 3-12 on the season, seven straight losses, but we're
06:15not sugarcoating.
06:16It has been a rough schedule for the Sacramento Kings.
06:19When you look at some of the teams they've faced, already faced OKC three times.
06:23We're going to face Minnesota three times, Denver three times, nine road games, seven
06:27at home, third back-to-back of the season.
06:31This is the stat right here.
06:3214 of 15 games so far have been against teams with a winning record, Katie.
06:36And like I said, we're going to play Nuggets Saturday and two on Monday.
06:39Yeah, so the reality, just to sum that up for you, it gives a lot of information.
06:43The first 18 games of this season is the toughest schedule in the NBA.
06:47You're playing the defending champs three times, you're playing the Wolves three times,
06:51you're playing the Denver Nuggets three times.
06:54And so the schedule is about to be a little bit more forgiving.
06:57But as we just mentioned, the Kings are dealing with injury issues.
07:00So it doesn't mean the season's going to get easier, but you just got to play on.
07:05Yes, exactly.
07:06The road and the games go on tonight.
07:09We are in Memphis.
07:10Just a stone's throw away from Beale Street.
07:13The Kings looking to bring music.
07:33The road for the Sacramento Kings takes them to Memphis, Tennessee.
07:38As the Kings take on the Memphis Grizzlies right here on NBC Sports California,
07:44powered by Xfinity.
07:45Kyle Draper, Katie Christensen coming to you live inside FedEx Forum.
07:50Game four of this five-game road trip for your Sacramento Kings.
07:54As we take a look at the starting lineups tonight,
07:57the Kings coming into this game shorthanded.
07:59No DeMontis a bonus.
08:01He is out with a partial meniscus tear.
08:03So it's Russell Westbrook, Zach Levine, Drew Eubanks, DeMar DeRozan,
08:07and Precious Achua coming off a big-time game last night in OKC, 15-9.
08:13As for the Memphis Grizzlies, their two studs, John Morant and Triple J,
08:18Jaron Jackson Jr. both out.
08:19They got Vince Williams.
08:20Keep an eye on Cedric Coward, Zach Eady, the Sacramento product.
08:24Folsom Highs, Jalen Wells, and Santi Aldama rounding out the Grizzlies starting five.
08:30As for the coaching staff, Tumas Isalo.
08:34That's right.
08:35His first full season took over late last year for Taylor Jenkins.
08:39He's 8-16 so far as Grizzlies coach.
08:43As for the Sacramento Kings, Doug Christie in his second year, 30-36 overall record.
08:48Doug, of course, preaching defense.
08:50Remember, he was a four-time all-defensive player in his time with the Sacramento Kings as a player.
08:57Let's get to Katie's keys to tonight's game.
08:59Katie, what's it going to take to snap this seven-game losing streak?
09:02Well, game four of a five-game trip on the road, a back-to-back.
09:06It's going to take energy from the jump.
09:08Part of it is you have to manufacture that energy, that momentum on the road.
09:14And then bench production.
09:15Second night of a back-to-back.
09:17You've got injuries.
09:18Guys are going to have to step up.
09:20I thought that both Dennis Schroeder and Malik Monk did a great job last night,
09:24but you're going to have to keep it coming in that second unit.
09:27All right, we are underway here in FedEx Forum.
09:30Vince Williams crossing the timeline.
09:35Jamar now on Wells.
09:36Wells, a little up and under.
09:38Lefty floater is good.
09:40That is a young player who, last year, just phenomenal for the Grizzlies in his rookie year.
09:48You've got to expect that he has made strides in the offseason.
09:53Here's Zach.
09:54Zach was really aggressive last night against OKC.
09:58Let's see if he can get going early here.
10:00Shot clock down to four here for Westbrook.
10:02Working on Wells.
10:03Westbrook a little fancy with it.
10:05He'll get two free throws.
10:07One of the questions that I asked, Christy, prior to the game is now knowing that you're
10:11without DeMontis Sabonis for three to four weeks.
10:14That could be anywhere between 10 to 12 games.
10:17A lot of the offense really runs through DeMontis Sabonis.
10:21So without him, how does that change things?
10:25Well, it changes them in a lot of ways.
10:26You've got DeMar DeRozan, who you can operate with, out of that elbow where you see DeMontis
10:31Sabonis a lot.
10:32But he said, listen, Russell Westbrook's going to have to pick up a lot of the slack in terms
10:36of facilitating and running the offense through his hands.
10:40Nice to see him aggressive getting downhill right out of the gate.
10:43Yeah, Russ calling his own numbers as he goes one of two from the free throw line.
10:48Here comes Vince Williams Jr.
10:50This Grizzlies team looking to push.
10:52As we got a foul.
10:53They're going to call it on the floor.
10:55It'll be on DeMar, his first.
10:56DeMar DeRozan is first.
10:58He's first.
10:59Doesn't go for the shot fake.
11:04Keeps his chest out.
11:05Wells goes right into him, but gets him on the side.
11:08So that's where the foul comes from.
11:10If he had taken it square in the chest, benefit of the doubt goes to the defense.
11:15There's Santee Aldama.
11:18Throws it away.
11:19Turnover Grizzlies.
11:20We're going the other way.
11:20And you can turn this team over because, again, you know, they're operating without their
11:25two leading scorers in terms of, or best players, franchise players, if you will, and John,
11:30Jaron Jackson.
11:31And so a lot of the offense goes through them.
11:34So guys are being in a position to make different types of decisions.
11:38Here's Debo.
11:39Oh, he got hit on the arm.
11:40Cedric Coward says, uh-uh.
11:42I didn't do it.
11:43And that's two fouls and two straight possessions defensively for the Grizzlies.
11:51Grizzlies, second team foul.
11:54Second team foul is DeMar.
11:56He gets it a free throw line.
11:58Not only two fouls, two fouls on the shot, too.
12:00Yeah.
12:00Well, and you said it, um, keep an eye on Cedric Coward.
12:05Yeah.
12:06Really, really electrifying rookie who has an interesting story and path to the NBA.
12:12And he has certainly benefited from the opportunity to kind of highlight what he can do with some
12:18key guys out.
12:2011th overall pick.
12:22June's draft.
12:23We'll talk about him in a minute as he comes off the downstream from Santee.
12:27Passes it out to Wells.
12:28Wells, 13 on the shot clock.
12:31Vince Williams, Jr.
12:35Aldama, this time guarded by Westbrook, going high off the glass.
12:39Eubanks with a nice challenge, but a second chance opportunity as Wells unable to cash out
12:44as Russ comes away with the rebound.
12:47Kings looking to push, but they turn it over.
12:53Zach Eadie.
12:55Oh, man.
12:56I'll tell you what.
12:57He's 7'4.
12:58He's knocking that down.
12:59Yeah.
13:00Well, listen, this is just his third game back.
13:02He had off-season ankle surgery, so he missed the first 13 games.
13:06But in his short time back, man, he shows how impactful he can be on the floor.
13:13He didn't touch it.
13:14The first two possessions down on the low block.
13:16But then you've got a 7'4 guy shooting a three, which is today's NBA.
13:20Yes.
13:22I think Zach Eadie just got the foul call there.
13:28Yeah, his first personal.
13:30Wow.
13:31I mean, it is three straight defensive possessions, three straight fouls for this Memphis Grizzlies team.
13:37DeMar rising up cash money.
13:41And the great thing about it is now you have them a little bit on their heels.
13:44They have to play cautious, and that's when you become ultra-aggressor.
13:48I like that shot by DeMar DeRozan.
13:51Eadie.
13:52Oh, man.
13:52Got the deep position.
13:53That's too easy for a 7'4 guy.
13:57Zach Eadie puts Memphis back up by two.
14:00Zach Levine looking for his first shot, finds a wide-open Russell Westbrook.
14:14Here comes Cedric Tower.
14:16Puts his head down, and they're going to get Russ for the reach-and-foul.
14:19And they're going to say he was going up for a shot, so free throws for him.
14:21Yeah, he had led with his left arm.
14:31I think he might have been able to get away with going after that deflection there.
14:36But that's certainly a foul on Russ.
14:39But they are calling it on the ground.
14:40Yeah, they changed it.
14:42And that's the right call.
14:43He had not gathered that ball yet.
14:45Vince Williams Jr.
14:47Foul line.
14:48Push shot.
14:48No.
14:49Westbrook, another rebound.
14:51And one of the things that the coaching staff has talked about is the need to work on spacing
14:58as Zach Levine elevates into that three, can't get it to fall.
15:01And I think that that's something that the Kings need to continue to focus on,
15:05is just their spacing and transition, but also in the half court to get some better looks,
15:10higher percentage, and make it a little bit easier for them on that end.
15:16They're saying out of bounds on the Kings.
15:18Memphis ball.
15:20Here's Coward.
15:21Oh, man.
15:23We talked about Cedric Coward.
15:26Rookie out of Washington State.
15:28Started out at D3 Willamette in Salem, Oregon.
15:32Then went to Eastern Washington University.
15:35And he's shown through 15 games to start this season.
15:38You've got to respect that three.
15:39Shooting over 40% from beyond the arc as Zach knocks down that middie.
15:43But in college last year, he only played six games last year, but also shot over 40% at Washington State at 80.
15:52That is tough to defend.
15:54And he's going to get the chance, Kyle, for a three-point opportunity.
15:57Yeah, that fouls on Drew Eubanks.
16:00Zach Eady, a two-time national player of the year coming out of Purdue.
16:05Fun fact.
16:08There's only three players ever that have won multiple Player of the Year titles in college.
16:15Can you name them?
16:16I would say Bill Walshie.
16:21Yes.
16:22And I'm going with Luau Sindor.
16:26Ralph Simpson.
16:27Ralph Simpson.
16:27Both Ralph and Bill won three Player of the Year.
16:33Yes, but those three guys that we just mentioned with Edie being the third are the only players in NCAA history to win multiple Player of the Year titles.
16:43As we take a look at this replay right here, the foul as Drew Eubanks got plowed over there.
16:52Yeah, and that's a big foul right there.
16:54Cedric Howard, his second.
16:56His second.
17:01DeRozan over KCP.
17:02Nope.
17:03On the leak out.
17:05Wells was leaking out, but Zach Levine picks it off.
17:10Oh, that's a hole.
17:12Vince Williams got away with the hole.
17:14They don't call it.
17:16It'll be out of bounds.
17:18Wow.
17:19I'm going to say stay here, Memphis ball.
17:20That was right in the middle of the floor.
17:23So blatant.
17:24Zach not pleased about that at all.
17:27Watch this as he loses the handle right there.
17:30It gets tipped away, and he's holding him back with that left arm.
17:34And Wells makes it an eight-point ball game.
17:41Grizzlies shooting 54.5% thanks to a 10-2 run.
17:45Let's see if the Kingsby did something going offensively here.
17:54DeRozan at the elbow.
17:56Back out to Rush.
17:57Shot clock now at six.
17:59Westbrook to the cup.
18:00Back out to Drew.
18:01Got to get it up.
18:02Got it.
18:03Nice job by Drew Eubanks to be ready on the catch.
18:07The clock winding down.
18:08That is the first triple that Drew has made this season.
18:14Drew Eubanks makes it a five-point game.
18:17Here he is on the health defense.
18:19They leave Santee Aldama wide open.
18:21And he's someone that has played very, very well to start this season.
18:28Just a product of someone that has kind of developed in this system.
18:34Eubanks over 80.
18:35No.
18:36Aldama with the rebound.
18:38Here comes Memphis up by eight.
18:40This Grizzlies team riding a five-game losing streak
18:43as we're going to get a foul here.
18:45And they're going to get Drew Eubanks for controlling that screener.
18:52We have a timeout on the floor.
18:55All right.
18:55We'll take the timeout.
18:56Eight-point ball game.
18:576.32 to go here in the first.
19:00And welcome back.
19:01Jalen Wells started out at Folsom High School.
19:05Then went on to be named D2 Player of the Year at Sonoma State University
19:09before playing at Washington State University.
19:12And now finding himself in his second year here in Memphis
19:16after being drafted 39th overall in 2024.
19:20I remember when they came to Sacramento last season.
19:24He had to have several hundred people there at Golden One Center.
19:28I'd say.
19:29Local boy.
19:30So, so excited for him and what he's been able to do
19:34in just the first year plus of his career.
19:40There's some talent in Sacramento.
19:41Yeah, no doubt about it.
19:44And what's interesting about Jalen, I mean, he was the 39th overall pick.
19:47So, a second-round pick.
19:49But his rookie season.
19:51Oh.
19:51His top rookies out there.
19:53Yeah.
19:53Yeah, no, without a doubt.
19:55He tore it up.
19:55He did a phenomenal job.
19:57And obviously, you know, the coaching has changed since his rookie year.
20:03But this coaching staff, the organization, have a lot of, you know, faith in him.
20:09As Keegan Murray's on the floor for the first time for the Kings, Kyle Draper.
20:13Yes, Keegan Murray's first action of the season.
20:16You have to get a touch, however, as Zach unable to connect on that three.
20:20Look at Russ battling down low.
20:29Wells.
20:29Oh, man.
20:30He literally stopped.
20:33Nice job.
20:33Pulled a matrix move on him.
20:35Great footwork by Malik Monk to be able to stop and then the strip.
20:42Look at this.
20:43I mean, yeah, he stopped.
20:45But in the air, in the air, great hands by Keegan Murray.
20:49You know what?
20:50I think we're seeing it more.
20:51It's funny if you talk about kind of the Euro stuff, if you will.
20:55Yeah.
20:55But there's this even slower Euro stuff now.
20:58And, I mean, the game has evolved where players are realizing that going slow can have the same benefits
21:05as the burst of speed as well.
21:08So, being able to play within both those spaces, so beneficial.
21:12Josh Landale with that last basket.
21:16Kings trailing by 12.
21:17Here's Keegan's first touch.
21:19Murray got the wrap on that left hand.
21:22Falling, fading, firing.
21:24Yes, sir.
21:25He's back.
21:26First shot knocks it down.
21:28That goes a long way in your first game back just for your confidence and rhythm and flow
21:33and just getting out of your mental space.
21:36Here he is trying to challenge Josh Landale.
21:38Back-to-back buckets for Josh.
21:42Dennis Schroeder.
21:45We'll see if he can continue his hot shooting last night in that first half against OKC.
21:51He was on fire, unable to cash out.
21:53That is a nice, nice pass by KCP and Doug Christie going to call a timeout here.
22:09Kings trying to muster up some kind of a rhythm and flow on the offensive end here in Memphis, Tennessee.
22:16The Kings on the go this season has streamed the games on the NBC Sports app.
22:22It's brought to you by Toyota.
22:24Scan the QR code now to start streaming your Sacramento Kings back here in Memphis, Tennessee.
22:30Kings trailing early to the Grizzlies.
22:32And, oh, how nice it is to have this guy back.
22:36King and Murray.
22:37First touch.
22:38First bucket here, Katie.
22:39A little ISO on that baseline.
22:41A fadeaway.
22:43Drops it smooth into the bucket there.
22:46But, you know what?
22:48Right now, the Kings need to try and muster some kind of continuity on the offensive end.
22:54I mean, they've got four field goals made just to assist in this one.
22:57And you look at the opposite end and what Memphis has been able to do.
23:01Eleven field goals made.
23:03Ten assists in this one.
23:05They are creating, moving that defense.
23:07And we've lost a shoe.
23:07Yeah, Contavious Caldwell-Poop lost his shoe.
23:10And Zach Levine says, I'll take advantage.
23:12Yeah, hey.
23:13Lose a shoe, gain an advantage.
23:17Back now with five early points.
23:21Back to an 11-point game.
23:23Let's see if the Kings can lock in defensively here.
23:27Spencer, guarded by Schroeder.
23:30Spencer from 17.
23:32Too strong.
23:33Max battling for the rebound.
23:36And Malik aroused it.
23:36And that's an area where I think Max has done a great job in his minutes,
23:40is getting on the glass.
23:41Negan, corner three.
23:45Landale with the hustle, but he stepped out of bounds.
23:48It'll be Kings ball.
23:53I like that no hesitation there by Keegan on that corner three.
23:57He pulled the trigger now, especially after seeing that first one drop.
24:01That's always a good thing for your mentals.
24:04Levine, uh-oh.
24:07That's back-to-back jacks.
24:09Let's see it.
24:10More of that.
24:11Kings cutting into that double-digit lead now, and we're starting to see offensively a little
24:16bit of flow and rhythm.
24:18Yeah.
24:19Zach now with eight.
24:20John Conchar, guarded by Malik.
24:26I like that defense.
24:28Yes.
24:28Zach Levine, good job leading with the chest.
24:30Pam Spencer, three on the clock, finding Jock.
24:34Oh, man, with one second.
24:35And Max Raynaud commits the foul.
24:39I'm not mad about that one, though.
24:41Even though there's one second, he is right at the rim.
24:43That is the ability to, you know, finish with a high probability there.
24:48Make him go to the line and earn it.
24:50He comes down, and he fouls him nice and hard.
24:52Also, something I prescribe to.
24:56So we're here on that.
24:57Practice as a player yourself, right?
25:00Might have, yeah.
25:02Might have.
25:04And Jock Lando.
25:06He's already got eight points right here.
25:09As the Kings now trail by ten.
25:15Zach Levine made his last two triples.
25:18You see that attention, Grizzlies.
25:20A pan to Zach.
25:21Yeah, I mean, a nice, hard hedge on him.
25:24Get up.
25:25Malik.
25:27No, as Dennis looks to track it down.
25:29What a save, but right to Memphis.
25:31Here comes.
25:32Oh, wow.
25:33A big-time collision.
25:35Let's see what they call here.
25:36Oh, they're going to call a block on Malik Monk
25:39as Olivier Maxing Prosper was burrowing down the field court.
25:46Wow, I mean, that was quite a collision.
25:49Prosper going a million miles a minute.
25:52Oh.
25:52And yeah, Malik did not take that to the chest, but I mean, he initiated that contact.
25:59My goodness.
26:00He put his shoulder down and went right into Malik Monk.
26:03It's fortunate that everyone is okay on that play.
26:07All right, Malik seems to be all right.
26:12Olivier Maxing Prosper, third-year man out of Marquette.
26:16From Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
26:23Locked down.
26:24Another free throw.
26:2512-point ball game.
26:28Memphis 5-for-5 from the line so far.
26:31Here's Zach.
26:32This time looking to turn the corner.
26:36Monk playing that two-man game with Max.
26:38And they're showing on that screen action.
26:40And they're worried about the three-point shooting for the Kings.
26:44Schroeder high off the glass.
26:46No.
26:47Grizzlies off and running.
26:49KCP pulls one.
26:52Out of bounds.
26:53Sacramento basketball.
26:56This Grizzlies team getting it up the floor quickly here.
27:01Playing without.
27:04Yeah, Triple J there.
27:05Triple J.
27:09He's got some danglies on today.
27:11Wow, you know.
27:13He got paid.
27:15He's got that contract extension.
27:17I could see you in some danglies.
27:18You think so?
27:19Yeah, yeah, for sure.
27:20Yeah, for sure.
27:21After all these years, you still don't know me, huh, baby?
27:23Nice job by Max.
27:23I am totally being serious right now, by the way.
27:26Just so we're clear on it.
27:28Oh, man.
27:33Here's KCP working on Zach Levine.
27:36They're going to say out of bounds.
27:37Stay here.
27:37Nice job by him, though.
27:39Really nice, hard closeout.
27:41Does a great job staying on his side.
27:43Didn't have the help step out, but able to get the stop there.
27:47As you see kind of what this roster is patching together for the Memphis Grizzlies.
27:53They are missing a lot of guys.
27:56And Ty Jerome, I'm interested to see about that.
27:58His addition to this team.
27:59He was absolutely phenomenal last year in Cleveland.
28:04Yeah, he was up for six-man of the year.
28:07Yeah, I mean, they had a couple guys on that roster that could have vied for that.
28:12Levine, cooking here.
28:13To the cup.
28:14Oh, man.
28:15That was pretty by Zach.
28:16It's just like poetry.
28:18I mean, it's so soft the way he maneuvers through there.
28:21And he's able to get that finish on the other side.
28:25Zach already in double figures.
28:27He's got ten.
28:29Kings looking to lock in defensively here.
28:31Crossfers, straightaway three.
28:33Cashes out.
28:34Oh, stepping out and hitting the three.
28:36That's his first three all season.
28:39Shot 23.5% a year ago.
28:42So, it's one of those where you kind of make them have to prove that.
28:51Next.
28:52Misses the jump hook.
28:53Here's Vince Williams, Jr.
28:56Nice help there by Malik Monk getting to that nail spot.
28:59Power from 18.
29:02Got it.
29:08Kings down 13.
29:10Under a minute to play here in the first.
29:11Memphis shooting 59% from the field.
29:1557% from deep.
29:17You know that's got to change.
29:18Zach not able to get his triple to drop.
29:23Meanwhile, they leave Power wide open.
29:25Kings dodge one as Keegan Murray saves it.
29:30Out of bounds.
29:31It'll be Kings ball here.
29:36You do have the opportunity to go for two for one here if you want.
29:40But I don't know that the Kings are going to go for that.
29:42I think they're going to try and get a good possession here.
29:47Kings shooting 40% from the field.
29:50Memphis 56.
29:52As Schroeder gets to the cup off the glass.
29:55Unable to make the layup.
29:56Plenty of time here for Memphis.
30:05Shot clock is off.
30:08Aldama looking to blow by.
30:10Powered.
30:10Extra pass.
30:12Williams, Jr.
30:13In and out.
30:14And after the first 12, the Kings offense still stuck in neutral.
30:20Just 22 points in that first quarter.
30:22Whereas Memphis ends the quarter on a 9-4 run.
30:25The second 12.
30:26On sale now.

30:45Back here in Memphis.
30:48Kings trailing 35-22.
30:51The Grizzlies dominating in a number of statistical categories, including 12 assists on 13 made baskets in that first quarter.
31:02Also points in the paint, 16-6.
31:05Yeah, and when you look at the points in the paint, I mean, you've got 16 points coming from the center position for Memphis.
31:15And that's where they're getting.
31:16That's where he's got in.
31:18Reubanks with the bucket.
31:20Coward steps into a three.
31:22Neat Clifford just checked in.
31:24He comes away with the rebound.
31:25Monk.
31:26Oh, Monk.
31:27Pretty with it.
31:29Nice look ahead there by Neat.
31:30Get it up the floor.
31:31Advance it quickly.
31:35Back-to-back buckets for the Kings.
31:37Oh, man.
31:38What a pretty move by Prosser like this.
31:40No, excuse me that's Gigi Jackson who just checked in and they're going deep into their bench
31:46Right talked about how important bench production was going to be tonight for the Kings is
31:52Dennis Schroeder is going to find himself at the free throw line
31:59Vince Williams, Jr
32:02Nice advance
32:04Malik surveying the floor and says you know what i'm going to keep this take it all the way easy lay-in and there's the foul
32:10on williams, Jr
32:14Right so it's two free throws for getting shooter remember last night 21 points
32:21To lead the sacramento kings
32:2515 of those come in in the first half yeah he came off and he has since he's been
32:31You know coming off that bench recently for doug christie
32:35He's done a phenomenal job coming out and being ultra aggressive both sides of the ball
32:41As you see him here working towards half court on the defense
32:44He's been harassed
32:47Things look like they're in the little zone right now absolutely
32:51Towers baseline jumper all hits the side of the backboard edy now aldama two on o'clock
32:59Williams, Jr. No
33:01All right the kings get a stop here good activity there by neat because it was that tip out that allowed them to get that rebound
33:07It looked like it was for sure going to be memphis
33:10Malik being harassed by gg and he throws it away here's bench williams, Jr
33:15He's trying to guard santee aldama aldama with the size advantages
33:31Katie we saw a turnover right there lead to some cross matchups, huh?
33:34Yeah, I mean they've got some size on the floor for them right now does memphis
33:42Aldama corrals that one
33:45Ten minutes to go here in the second ball though. Yeah, nobody someone's got to pick it up
33:52Malik looks to throw it off zach edy and he does going the other way
33:57All right, precious achua checking back in can get murray katie heads to the bench nine minutes blade hey listen
34:11That's a significant chunk of time, but it's straddled the the quarter break
34:16So he got a rest in between and and honestly
34:19That's the big issue right now no matter how much he was able to do in terms of conditioning
34:25Um leading up to his you know being active again
34:31Nothing is the same as game minutes. Yeah
34:34They had to switch out basketballs as
34:39Some uh there's some courtside beverage yeah, yeah, I don't know whether is the expensive kind or the cheap kind well, I guess courtside
34:45Yeah
34:51All right, so a fresh basketball he's looking for a fresh run right here is schroeder
34:57Gigi jackson commits the foul to be two shots and he uh he got away with one
35:02I thought a couple possessions ago on malik monk, so I like that dennis is
35:07Challenging him to have to defend him off the bounce there
35:10They're stepping in and drawing the foul because he is an aggressive defender playing in just his seventh game this season
35:24All right schroeder he'll have another one as we get a quick word from california community colleges
35:29I
35:32I can put my future on a guaranteed path save money by starting at a california community college and transferring to a guaranteed save spot at a four-year university
35:40Learn about the associate degree for transfer and enroll today at I can go to college.com
35:47All right, one of two for dennis makes it a 10 point game
35:50He's still in that zone as westbrook checks back in coward. No
35:58Aldama looks to save it. They're gonna say he stepped out of bounds sacramento ball, and I like them going into this zone defense
36:05You just got to understand where you're susceptible is on the glass
36:09So you're gonna need guys to have to kind of shrink into that paint to try and come up with that rebound
36:15Shruder that mid-range jumper rims out here comes memphis
36:26They've gone cold a little bit from three here in the second quarter just over for all eating
36:31Looks like he shuffled the puppies
36:33like did he have steps there
36:38Zach edie in his third game now with 10 points three rebounds as the kings turn it over
36:45Oh
36:50Westbrook is saying that's a foul
36:57Oh my gosh come on he's playing pity pat with his feet out there right tap dancing
37:05Yeah, that's that's hard to defend
37:07All right, so that turn over the fifth turnover for sacramento
37:14There's al dama
37:18He's got seven now
37:22Westbrook
37:24nice little fine eubanks you know as that shoot around the other day practice the other day and drew was working on that
37:30Afterwards that little push shot from about eight out
37:34That's a tough shot and he is
37:38He has been very very good with that
37:42ACP
37:44Now here's gg man. That was a d3 threw up a brick
37:49Kings down by 12. Neek was looking for the dime the eubanks another turnover
37:54The sacramento's in the best pass probably in that situation is the kick ahead over the top
38:06We're kind of seeing it a little bit here in the first half what we saw last night in oklahoma city during that third quarter
38:13The turnovers here in the second quarter to start this period have really put a ton of pressure on the king's defense
38:20Kings with six turnovers leading to 13 memphis points
38:29The rosen four on the clock
38:33Nearly turns it over and they do it 24 second violation
38:37Seven turnovers now and I think what we're seeing a little bit is just kind of struggles in terms of identity on the offensive end
38:44And and what i'm talking about there you're gonna kick it ahead. I'd prefer you see you go up over the top with it
38:49It's a lot easier in traffic and that leads to an easy dunk in transition for the grizzlies
38:56King stand in this zone defense is cam spencer
39:01On the kick out santee algama he's shooting only 30 percent from three but he's wide open in the corner there
39:08He was a 37 percent shooter last year. It's early in the season and numbers can be deceiving
39:13Xfinity is here to help you break ankles not the bank get the most intelligent wi-fi
39:22At one consistent price for the next five years with the xfinity five-year price
39:28guarantee
39:29Kyle draper katie christensen coming to you from
39:33memphis tennessee
39:34Inside fedex forum as the martin rosen and the kings trailing 48 31 and spin turnovers
39:42Here in this second quarter for the sacramento king state. Well the differential right when you look at seven turnovers in this first half by sacramento for
39:5216 points
39:53Kings on the other hand have only forced two turnovers scored two points off of it and so
39:58You know there is a lack of continuity right now offensively that's manifesting in kind of coughing the ball up at a high rate
40:06And that's another turnover right there as russ was looking for the youth to drew gg jackson draws the foul
40:14Let's see who they call it on here. They're going to call it on samar de rosen
40:18That'll be his second. You know you look at the turnovers and kind of what it does it's it's kind of you know
40:25put you in kind of quicksand if you will because
40:29This team is shooting 53 percent from the field
40:33They've got 26 points in the paint
40:36You see what happens you're backpedaling trying to catch up
40:40And then you're having to defend at the rim against guys that are you know
40:447-4 and and guys that are you know coming full speed ahead getting downhill on you
40:49So it you can kind of see the trickle down effect of what it does
40:55Gigi jackson
40:58Knocks down the free throw
41:0019 point lead largest of the game
41:04Keegan murray back on the floor just a short break for him
41:09Here he is
41:11Amar looking to go against conchar westbrook three ball in and out you know it's not that we saw a little bit more in last year
41:22With keegan murray was posting him up. Yes
41:26ACP back out to jock landale jock no has a big play a free clear
41:32Now a 22 point game
41:44It's in a lot of one-on-one basketball right now for the sacramento kings here katie
41:50Yeah, I mean this is kind of category shows that a bit for you
41:53And you have to give credit right now to to memphis
41:58I mean their defense is causing problems for sacramento in terms of being able to find
42:04Great shots on the offensive end
42:09Memphis six of 17 from behind the arc and zach oh went for the hammer and he got fouled
42:15Yeah, gg got him as zach is down looks like he hit his head
42:20He's holding the back of his head there
42:23Oh
42:38Let's see if we can see right here zach
42:43Oh the back of the chair right there that chair sticking out right there
42:47And coach easel oh he's going to challenge this
42:53We got the results of the challenge and we'll see how zach is after the timeout
42:57We're gonna have a jump ball center circle between any two to resume play
43:00And memphis does have one further challenge now if needed this coach's challenge brought to you by ashton and price northern california's injury law firm
43:10we've just
43:11Heard the official make the announcement josh tibbon you're going to say no foul all overturned katie
43:18So it'll be a jump ball at center court
43:21Zach does stay in the game however
43:28Coach easel oh
43:31Making the correct call to challenge that one
43:33Doug meanwhile getting an explanation over here from josh tibbon
43:395.50 to go here in the second
43:52Not to start obviously doug christie won it katie. What are you seeing what's happening here on both ends of the floor?
43:57Yeah, I mean I think as we've kind of mentioned here over the second quarter
44:01It's been kind of self-inflicted wounds turning the ball over
44:05Has put them in a in a bad way on the defensive end and really allowed memphis to get some easy looks
44:10But you also kind of look at it and you've got keegan murray back
44:15You've got to montez to bonus out that changes the offense in such a massive way
44:19And I feel like guys are you know the offense is shifting guys are kind of put in different roles
44:24And they're clearly not you know comfortable with it at this moment because they have they don't have a lot of
44:31um
44:32Kind of minutes in those roles if you will
44:34I mean it really does change to me the offense completely without de montez to bonus
44:39And they're looking at three to four weeks at the very least without him
44:44Meanwhile pan spencer throws another three finishes there seven
44:50kings find themselves down 25
44:53to a memphis team just four and 11 on the season
44:57missing jaron jackson jr and john moran
45:02And nearly another turnover right there
45:07Keon ellis going to be stepping in right now
45:10yeah john moran
45:12out with that calf string
45:14say he'll be out at least two weeks
45:17and there's certainly been some rough spots for them early in the season with him i mean he
45:23has
45:25been suspended over the last season or so with various off-court things and there was an issue in the
45:30locker room where he was suspended as that's going to be a goal 10
45:34and russell westbrook is going to get a technical yeah
45:38second year official jd rawls
45:41ringing russ up
45:42so there's a level of frustration right now that is
45:48clearly
45:51evident for the kings
45:52oh
45:55he fell he got got hit there was fouled by contra and he no by
46:00by jock there yeah i mean you saw the the hand on his right shoulder it was that left hand coming
46:06down
46:07as the right hand was up contesting so i understand the frustration by russell westbrook but
46:12man no one's gonna get this right except the five guys on the floor and the guys
46:17on that bend right ready to step in so this is kind of one of those moments where you have to come
46:22together as a squad and say we got this we're the only ones that can turn this around
46:29caldwell pope
46:31back rims of three and the kids just don't come away with the rebound and contra gets fouled
46:41you know one of your keys to the game as russ picks up that foul was energy yeah tonight this
46:47game seemed big yesterday yeah manufacturing seems like memphis is the ones they're the ones
46:54quicker to the ball quicker on the glass playing with more energy here
47:00and when you look at memphis obviously they did not play last night that is a thing second night
47:10of a back-to-back on the road never an easy thing but everyone has to go through it at some
47:14point in the season they played a couple of nights ago in san antonio and it was really
47:22a competitive game played incredibly well against the spurs
47:26so i mean sometimes records can be deceiving this team certainly still very highly competitive no
47:34matter who's on the floor for them this has been one of those rosters over the last few years
47:38that has been deep and this is a team very much like you know you look at memphis you look at
47:45some other teams in the league that you know oklahoma city a perfect example last night
47:50that they have deep benches and they have purely developed their talent here over the course of
47:56several years and that's where it matters in nice lake tonight where your two guys are out and then
48:01other guys step in six on the clock here's zach on the step back that's a two-pointer got it
48:09zach lavine with 12. not an easy shot at all and credit this grizzlies defense they're not
48:15letting up on sacramento geon ellis trying to track wells there's cam spencer
48:27right there just crashing in from that weak spot no one with a body on them and the kings
48:35four minutes here to go in this half before they go in the locker room and
48:39have to try and figure out some solutions that got hit as wells will pick up the foul that'll be his second
48:57yeah nobody puts a body on conchar at all yeah i mean and you've got both dennis and
49:02zach on the on the baseline as you see the foul there on wells
49:16zach rabine now with 13.
