00:00I've always thought John B. and Sarah Rickey.
00:01I think so.
00:02Yeah, I mean, the rest of us need a mother and father, please.
00:06I know, like, come on.
00:08The first half of the fourth season of Outer Banks just hit Netflix.
00:12Ahead of its release, the cast spoke to The Hollywood Reporter all about the new episodes.
00:17Actors Chase Stokes, Rudy Ponko, and Drew Starkey opened up about what it's been like
00:21essentially growing up with their characters over the past four seasons.
00:26It's like mirroring a version of life.
00:28You know, you see a different person who has wins and makes mistakes and you get frustrated
00:34and you laugh and cry with them.
00:36And it's fun because I do think it's so rare to have so much time invested in a character.
00:43So it's fun because you get to experience all different emotions and an outer body sort
00:48of experience with this world in particular.
00:50It's like being in a relationship.
00:52You know, I think we've all learned how to fall in love with it in different ways.
00:56And, you know, I mean, we had five years, we hit our five year anniversary of filming
01:01this year.
01:03It's longer than I was in college or in high school.
01:06And so, like, you know, we kept joking.
01:09It was like, this year is our senior year.
01:10You know, we're working on senior years.
01:12Maybe super seniors next year.
01:14But yeah, I mean, I mean, I look when I look back, I mean, it all feels kind of like very
01:23much the same.
01:24But when I look back in to like 2019, when we just started, I'm like, oh, my God, we
01:29were children.
01:30Yeah.
01:30There's like little kids bouncing off the walls.
01:32No.
01:33So, yeah, it's been it's been like the joy of my life.
01:37Really?
01:37Yeah.
01:37Since the drama series debuted in 2020, the onscreen relationships have been a key part
01:42of the show.
01:43Madeline Klein and Madison Bailey revealed whether or not they think their characters' respective
01:47relationships with John B. and J.J. are endgame.
01:51I think, unless I've been told otherwise, I think that, I think they are.
01:57I've always thought John B. and Sarah were endgame.
01:59I think so.
02:00Yeah.
02:00I mean, the rest of us need a mother and father, please.
02:04I know.
02:04Like, come on.
02:05I think that these characters have so much in common, and I think that they'll, you know,
02:15go the distance if they keep their friendship at the forefront.
02:20And I mean, I think that there are two people who are so independent that that's why they
02:25work together.
02:26And then like just being themselves and giving the space for the other person to be themselves
02:30is why they, they work.
02:32So as long as there's never like a, a hold up on that, then I think they'll be all right.
02:39Speaking of relationships, Jonathan Davis, aka J.D., and Carlesea Grant weighed in on
02:44what it was like portraying Pope and Cleo's relationship in the new season.
02:48It's been amazing.
02:49Honestly, like, you know, Carlesea has been such an amazing co-star over these past couple
02:53years and like, and, and more than that, like a really, really good friend.
02:56So like being able to kind of bring our, uh, ourselves into these characters more to explore
03:02more moments with each other.
03:03We didn't get a lot of that season three, but I feel like this season, we really got
03:05a good opportunity to explore the relationships between these characters and really like flesh
03:10it out on screen.
03:11So it didn't feel like, you know, it's, it felt like a natural evolution of where we
03:15left off in the third season.
03:16It felt like they were in a really good spot.
