Elon Musk claims work will be 'optional' with the rise of AI and robotsReuters
Transcript
00:00Say, like, in the long term, where will things end up?
00:03Long term, I don't know what long term is.
00:04Maybe it's 10, 20 years, something like that.
00:08For me, that's long term.
00:10My prediction is that work will be optional.
00:13Optional.
00:14Optional.
00:18We'll take that.
00:20Yeah.
00:20I mean, it'll be like playing sports or a video game or something like that.
00:25If you want to work, you know, in the same way, like,
00:28you can go to the store and just buy some vegetables,
00:33or you could grow vegetables in your backyard.
00:36It's much harder to grow vegetables in your backyard,
00:38but some people still do it because they like growing vegetables.
00:42That will be what work is like, optional.
00:46It's kind of interesting.
00:46And my guess is if you go out long enough,
00:50assuming there's a continued improvement in AI and robotics,
00:54which this seems likely,
00:56the money will stop being relevant at some point in the future.
01:03Currency becomes irrelevant.
01:06But AI and humanoid robots will actually eliminate poverty.
01:10And Tesla won't be the only one that makes them.
01:12I think Tesla will pioneer this,
01:13but there will be many other companies that make humanoid robots.
01:16But there is only basically one way to make everyone wealthy,
01:21and that is AI and robotics.
01:22Thanks.
