00:00The European Union is pushing back against a 28-point plan approved by U.S. President Donald
00:06Trump early on Thursday to end the war in Ukraine. The plan, first reported by U.S. media outlet
00:13Axios, is set to include terms that would be highly disadvantageous for Ukraine, such as the
00:19complete surrender of the eastern Donbass region. The plan has yet to be presented to the Russian
00:25and Ukrainian sides and has reportedly not involved Europe in its formulation.
00:30The EU's foreign policy chief, Kaya Callas, speaking as she hosted European foreign ministers
00:36for a summit in Brussels, denounced the idea, claiming that a just agreement must be reached.
00:43What we as Europeans have always supported is a long-lasting and just peace, and we welcome
00:49any efforts to achieve that. Of course, for any plan to work, it needs the Ukrainians and
00:56Europeans on board, so this is very clear. Also, we have to understand that in this war, there
01:04is one aggressor and one victim, so we haven't heard of any concessions on the Russian side.
01:10The sentiment was echoed by the French top diplomat.
01:14Discussions should start with a ceasefire on the contact line that allow for negotiation
01:21on the question of territories, on the question of security guarantees. We have said that,
01:26the U.S. have said that, President Trump has said that, and Ukrainians are ready for this.
01:32The only obstacle to such ordered discussions so far is Vladimir Putin.
01:38Budapest, however, who has always endorsed a highly critical view of Ukraine, remained the
01:43outlier.
01:44So if Brussels and the leadership here in Brussels was normal, then they have immediately should
01:51have stopped the payments to Ukraine, and they have, they immediately should have demanded
01:59for a financial clearance. Are we crazy? So there's a war mafia, a corrupt system working
02:05in Ukraine.
02:06The meeting in Brussels is aimed at exploring ways to further support Ukraine amid its ongoing
02:12war with Russia. Foreign ministers held discussions on the European Commission's plan to support
02:18Kyiv's military with 135 billion euros to cover its needs for 2026 and 2027.
