Transcript
00:00Hey guys, it's Chloe and here are the three things that you have to know about the Winter Olympics
00:04and a few crazy stories of what's already been happening there.
00:08So here's the first thing that you need to know.
00:09The 2014 Winter Olympics will air on NBC on the evening of February 7th
00:14in a mega-million dollar telecast that will feature the U.S. team in all of their grandma-costumed glory.
00:21The second thing that you need to know is that the opening ceremony isn't the true beginning of the Games.
00:26Fans will be treated to primetime coverage Thursday, February 6th of actual events,
00:31including snowboarding star Sean White and team figure skating.
00:35These, of course, will also be streamed live on NBC's site.
00:38Now the third thing that you need to know is that Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira
00:42are going to be emceeing for the American crowd with Bob Costas,
00:46anchoring the ceremony from the International Broadcast Center.
00:49The actual performers in high-quality hijinks have actually been kept under serious raps,
00:53but The Telegraph is reporting that 15 buildings, 6 trains, and 6 bridges
00:57will be built on the stage at the stadium for the event.
01:01This is going to be crazy.
01:03So it turns out that Putin actually blew $51 billion
01:06to make the country an international showcase for the Games,
01:10but it's not working out because international journalists
01:13are actually really uncomfortable with the conditions.
01:16So the first thing going wrong is that when journalists are showing up to Sochi,
01:20they're finding the rooms to be unacceptable.
01:23Yes, hotel rooms.
01:25Actually, one guy even found a stray dog in his room.
01:28Things are getting out of control.
01:31The second thing already going wrong is that when journalists are showing up
01:33to their accommodations, that the water coming out of the tap is, get this,
01:38yellowish brown.
01:39That's right, not suitable for drinking,
01:42and journalists are taking to Twitter to express their concern about this.
01:46Now the third thing going wrong is if it couldn't be enough
01:48to find a dog in your hotel room and to find dirty water,
01:51it turns out that the rooms are actually really dirty
01:54and the kitchenware and the air conditioning and the TV,
01:57which you would probably need if you're covering the Olympics
01:59and you can't go to all the events, are not working.
02:03So it looks like Russia was not prepared at all for the Olympic Games.
02:07For all things Sochi, stay tuned to ENTV.
