00:33A mysterious criminal who calls himself the Eager is plotting against the directors of
00:57an airplane factory, whom he has tried to frighten with warnings written on the sky
01:02smoke and fire. The directors have reason to suspect that the eagle is Nathan Gregory,
01:09owner of a small carnival show, who has accused them of stealing from him an invention that
01:15is worth a fortune. Agents of the eagle, posing as relatives of Gregory, have railroaded him
01:21to a private sanitarium. But Gregory's daughter, Jean, also held captive in the sanitarium,
01:28has outwitted her nurse and phoned for help. Craig McCoy, stunt flyer with the carnival,
01:34has entered the sanitarium disguised in a surgeon's mask and smock, while his friend the strongman
01:41waits outside with a car to get Gregory away. Let me go. Let me go, I tell you. I don't
01:49be wrong. It's terrible. Get them on us, Father.
01:58Let me go. I'll hold these boys up.
02:18Come on. We've got to stop Gregory.
02:28Beat it around the corner.
02:30I'm going back to help Craig.
02:40Beat it around the corner.
02:42I'm going back to help Craig.
02:50I'm going back to help Craig.
02:58Go on through, Gene.
03:00If we stop, they'll get us.
03:22Don't stop. Go on.
03:24It's no use. We've had a blowout.
03:26There's still a chance, Daddy. Let's run for it.
03:32They've taken to the brush.
03:36Oh, no.
03:38Oh, no.
03:40Oh, no.
03:42Oh, no.
03:44Oh, no.
03:46Oh, no.
03:48Oh, no.
03:49Oh, no.
03:50Oh, no.
03:51Oh, no.
03:52Oh, no.
03:53Oh, no.
03:54Oh, no.
03:55Oh, no.
04:05Uh...
04:12Before we can put the spare on, they'll be halfway to town.
04:15Before we can put the sparrow on, they'll be halfway to town.
04:18Well, change it as quick as you can and pick me up at the drugstore.
04:21I've got to report to the Eagle.
04:24What do those fellows mean by coming here and creating a disturbance?
04:27Boy, what a sock in the jaw I got.
04:29Sure, we'll have a fight while it lasts.
04:30I'll say it was.
04:32One of the men didn't get away. He must still be in that room.
04:35Let's find out.
04:36Okay, let's look.
04:45In another minute, we'd have been too late to revive him.
05:04Get me a wet claw.
05:07You needn't bother anymore. I'll take charge of him.
05:14We're going to bring this fellow, too, and turn him over to the police.
05:17Oh, yeah?
05:37Go get the key.
05:41Yeah, Gregory got away.
05:44But McCoy is still in the hospital.
05:51Yeah, okay, boss. I got you.
06:03The boss has got a great idea, but we've got to get a hold of a leather coat somewhere.
06:06What's the matter with the one on the back of the car there?
06:13McCoy's own flying tog.
06:17What could be sweeter?
06:18Back to the hospital, quick.
06:36Just a minute, big boy.
06:46You're going in the wrong direction.
06:49Take him out the car at the curb.
06:51And don't think I'm kidding.
06:55One of these days, I make you eat that top gun.
07:06Get out of here.
07:07Get out of here.
07:24Now, I'll meet it to the flying field while I get McCoy ready.
07:36Come on.
07:37Get out of here.
07:43Hi, Kipper.
07:47We stole a couple of minutes between acts, just to sneak in and say, Howdy.
07:54Gee, it's good to have you back with us again, Mr. Gregory.
07:58And it's good to be back again, too, Billy.
08:06But I'm worried about Craig.
08:08Why doesn't he come back?
08:10Uh, you don't even worry about him.
08:12As long as he has that human Derek with him.
08:24Well, what happened?
08:26Where's Craig?
08:27They got him away from me.
08:29Why, what are you doing, you big palooka?
08:31Taking feathers off a duck?
08:37Will you quit picking on me?
08:39I did my best I could.
08:41But they had a gun on me.
08:45You're still a big palooka.
08:49That settles it.
08:51None of you are safe as long as the eagle continues his attacks on me.
08:56Daddy, what can we do?
08:58There's only one thing to do.
09:00Give myself up to the police.
09:02The police?
09:03Why, Skipper, they'll arrest you for the eagle's crimes.
09:06I know.
09:07But if they have me in jail and the crimes continue,
09:10it will prove my innocence.
09:13Your father is right, Gene.
09:14It'll not only prove his innocence,
09:16but he'll be safe from his enemies.
09:18When do you think you're undoing it?
09:22There's no use putting it off.
09:26Arrest him.
09:34I got a warrant for your arrest, Gregory.
09:37You're not so smart.
09:38Mr. Gregory was on his way to jail.
09:40Where is he safe from, you birds?
09:42That's a pretty thin story.
09:43But it's true.
09:44What?
09:45Give yourself up with all the eagle's crimes against you?
09:49My father is not the eagle.
09:51And no one knows it better than you.
09:53What do you mean by that?
09:54What do you think she means, you lame brain?
09:56Ah, cut out the round.
09:58If Mr. Gregory was on his way to the station,
10:01I don't guess he's got any objections to going along with us.
10:05So you think I'm the eagle, do you?
10:18Then how do you explain that skyrocket?
10:21Another message from the eagle.
10:23Stand there.
10:25Look.
10:26He has written your name.
10:28And now he's drawing a line through it.
10:30It means I have a marked man.
10:32Then it also proves that Mr. Gregory is not the eagle.
10:36Nothing of the sort.
10:37It means that somebody's doing the writing for him.
10:40Probably young McCoy.
10:42Look.
10:43The plane's in trouble.
10:44He's going to make a forced landing.
10:49I'm going to see who's in that plane.
10:51You take charge of the prisoner, gentlemen.
10:53Yes, and we'll stay and see that you don't get robbed with him.
10:58He's making his landing all right.
11:01Yeah.
11:02Here comes the police car.
11:03Everything is working out.
11:04It's figured.
11:05It's figured.
11:13Wait a moment.
11:28We're going to get out of thin CNN.
11:29There's another car ahead of us.
11:31What does it mean?
11:41There's another car ahead of us.
11:43What does it mean?
11:59There's another car ahead of us.
12:09Untie his hands.
12:21I hear something for him to find when they search him.
12:29Let's go.
12:39Hold it.
12:42Sure was a close call.
12:43Ten seconds late and he got away from us.
12:46Craig, you, the sky rider.
12:50It's not true, Gene. I wasn't in that plane.
12:53The whole thing's a frame-up.
12:54Keep quiet.
12:56How did you two men happen to be on the job this way?
12:58Why, we're a couple of private detectives
13:00working on the case of the airplane company.
13:02It's a lie.
13:03He's working for the Eagle.
13:04Looks to me like you're working for the Eagle.
13:07We'll find out more about this when we get back to the carnival grounds.
13:10Can you drive my car?
13:11Yes.
13:12You two men stay here with the plane.
13:13Come on.
13:15Come on.
13:28Hello, Mr. Green.
13:29I've been looking for you.
13:30How did you know I was here?
13:32I phoned the office and Mr. Ward told me.
13:35I've made some important discoveries.
13:45I see you've got the Eagle.
13:46And I've got clues that lead to McCoy as his aide.
13:50The fellow who has been writing his, uh, messages into the sky.
13:54What have you got to say about that, Gregory?
13:57I am not interested in the stupid lies of your paid thugs, Gene.
14:00What's that?
14:01You heard what he said.
14:07So, you caught the sky rider.
14:10Red-handed.
14:11Just as he was trying to make his getaway from the plane.
14:14Did you find anything on him that shows he's working with Gregory?
14:17You know he didn't.
14:18You frame me, but you can't drag Mr. Gregory into this.
14:21I'm not so sure.
14:22I haven't searched you yet.
14:33Stand by.
14:35When the directors reach the carnival grounds, write Danby and draw a line to it.
14:40Gee.
14:42I suppose it's useless to deny writing that.
14:44Certainly.
14:45It's useless to deny anything.
14:46They framed their plot too well.
14:48You can arrest me, but not till after I've told my friends the truth.
14:57The frame-up was perfect.
14:59They planted these flying togs on me, planted the forged note in my pocket,
15:02and planted one thing more on me that you haven't found yet.
15:05One thing that I can use against you.
15:07They planted this.
15:08I don't know.
15:09We don't stand a chance, Mr. Gregory.
15:10Make a run for us.
15:11Make a run for us.
15:15Drop that gun.
15:17Gee.
15:18Drop it.
15:20Hold it.
15:24You talk of frame-ups after what you've done to my father.
15:27You used that skywriting in your own crooked game.
15:29You planted that note to make it appear that you were only an agent of my father.
15:33Then you urge him to flee, branding him your best friend as guilty.
15:40We'll see that he gets what he deserves.
15:43Stand where you are.
15:44We carnival people have our own way of dealing with traitors.
15:48Take him.
15:50And peg him out.
15:51Peg him out?
15:52No.
15:53Jean, you don't mean...
15:54You know what I mean.
15:55It's a trick to get him away from us.
15:57You think it's a trick, do you?
15:59Well, see for yourselves.
16:02Take him outside.
16:03Take him outside.
16:33Take him outside.
16:41We may be mistaken, Jean.
16:43Hadn't we better stop them before it's too late?
16:45He's guilty.
16:47Let them peg him out.
17:03Jane!
17:04Jane!
17:05I swear I'm not guilty!
