Cole Hauser chats with THR about keeping the ending of 'Yellowstone' a secret and admits that he hasn't even told his wife. Plus, he shares that the show isn't a "red state" or "blue state" show, it's an "American" show.
00:00Congratulations on the season. I heard the season was so secretive that half the cast doesn't know the ending.
00:05What was it like to shoot the season when everything was so hush-hush?
00:09Well, I was fortunate just because I kind of travel around the show in the bunkhouse and with Beth and some with Luke Grimes to see a lot of the script.
00:17But for them, it was redacted a bit and the crew.
00:19So it was different, but we got through it and I think it's a fantastic season for it.
00:25Was there anyone that you told the ending to, someone that was your secret keeper?
00:30God, no. Not even my wife.
00:31Oh, right. Okay, so she's kind of in the dark right now still.
00:35Listen, I think it's exciting that finally the audience is going to be able to see what we've been doing for the last six months.
00:41I mean, we just finished a month and a half ago, so it's great to be here in New York and we'll see the first episode.
00:46But the next six weeks, I'm hoping that the audience loves it.
00:50What was your reaction when you first found out that Yellowstone was coming to an end?
00:54Did it feel too early? Does it feel like the right time?
00:56Listen, you never know whether it's coming to an end or not, so we'll see.
01:02But you know what? I think what Taylor wrote and the way that he kind of suited it all up, it's wonderful.
01:09And if it ends, then it ends. It's been one hell of a run. It's been one of my favorite jobs.
01:14Well, I've heard that there are some rumors going on about a season six with you and Kelly.
01:18Is there more to explore with Beth and Rip?
01:20Oh, yeah. I mean, listen, you can go on forever about these two.
01:24You know, there's no walls when it comes to them. No limits.
01:28And as long as Taylor wants to write something special, I know Kelly and I would be interested to do it.
01:33Finally, I want to ask, I know some people in the past have called Yellowstone a red state show.
01:38That's something that Taylor shared and disagreed with.
01:40How do you think that the show kind of bridges the gap when we're in the midst of such a political divide right now?
01:45Well, it's not a red state show or a blue state show. It's an American show.
01:47And I think what's been amazing is that we started, you know, as a kind of a grassroots show in middle America.
01:53And it's really built out to the edges of America now, California, New York.
01:57But I was just in Europe and the Italians love it. The Dutch love it.
02:01I was in Australia. They love it. So now it's become a worldwide show. Yeah.
