00:00What did you hope to accomplish with your super diverse cast?
00:04We decided we're not going to have anyone who's going to be Hugh Grant.
00:07We're not going to try to find a guy who is like a floppy-haired, white, incredibly compelling...
00:12Bumbling, kind of.
00:13No one could do that.
00:14And to be honest, that was very of its time, and Hugh Grant is Hugh Grant because of it.
00:18So we thought, what were the new icons, what are the kind of things that we would love
00:21to see?
00:22You know, I'm Indian, Tracy, you're like in an interracial marriage.
00:26Yes.
00:27I said relationship, but it's a full marriage.
00:28No, we're married.
00:29You're married.
00:30Stop saying that.
00:31But are the people we surround ourselves with, don't necessarily look like what's reflected
00:35in a lot of TV shows and our friendships.
00:37So we wanted to do something, we wanted the cast to, we definitely wanted an African American
00:42woman to be the star, and we wanted a British Pakistani man to be the male lead.
00:46And that felt different and worth doing.
00:48Yeah.
00:49Yeah.
00:50And that felt different.
00:52Yeah.
01:01Yeah.
01:02Yeah.
