00:00A Manila-based think tank says the Philippine government should be part of the global initiative
00:05establishing a transition away from fossil fuels roadmap.
00:08More than 18 nations have come together calling for this roadmap. It will lay out how the world
00:13will move away from fossil fuels and keep global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius
00:18as agreed upon by parties a decade ago in the Paris Agreement.
00:22Avril de Torres, Deputy Executive Director of Center for Energy, Ecology and Development says,
00:27As part of one of the most climate-vulnerable regions in the world and countries in the world,
00:32we should be part of this global effort to make the roadmap concrete on how do we transition away
00:36from fossil fuels. So far, supporters of the roadmap are a mix of developing and developed nations,
00:42including Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark and the alliance of small island states.
00:47The roadmap will build on the agreement made at the end of COP28 in Dubai, which is to transition
00:52away from fossil fuels and triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.
