00:06Magandang araw sa inyong lahat.
00:09The Philippines contributes minimally to global emissions,
00:12yet bears a disproportionate burden from climate impacts.
00:17As we observe Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Month,
00:22let us recognize that climate change is personal.
00:26It affects the land we farm, the waters we fish, the homes we build,
00:31and the future we leave our children.
00:34This year, 15 typhoons battered our shores, displaced thousands of people,
00:39and left communities in poverty and incredible state of destruction.
00:44Climate change-related calamities test our resilience and readiness as families,
00:50as communities, and as a nation.
00:52Let us remind ourselves that our choice matters.
00:57How we consume, what we waste, how we build.
01:01Each decision either deepens the challenge or helps us adapt,
01:06reduce, or prepare for the more adverse effects of climate crisis.
01:11The Office of the Vice President has already planted 1 million trees
01:16all across the Philippines in just three years.
01:19This was our commitment in the advocacy to strengthen our defenses against the impact of climate change.
01:28I urge local governments to prioritize climate preparation and adaptation in development planning.
01:36This should include the preservation and rehabilitation of remaining forests,
01:40mangroves, rivers, and seas.
01:42Investment in early warning systems is necessary as part of the vision to develop resilient communities.
01:51I encourage Filipino families to teach our children that caring for nature means caring for each other,
01:58reduce waste, avoid single-use plastics, and embrace sustainable practices.
02:03Let this month ignite a lasting commitment to a livable future,
02:09preserved and passed on for generations to come.
