Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro led a national and binational day of prayer, declaring Jesus Christ the “Commander-in-Chief” of Venezuela and calling for peace amid rising tensions with the United States.
Maduro prayed for U.S. President Donald Trump, asking that he resist the “demon of war” and urging that no American soldier “ever fire a single shot” against Venezuela. The event was coordinated with churches in the United States through a Michigan-based pastor.
