Windang unit fire: one man rescued, firefighter suffers electric shock

A man has been pulled from his burning home and a firefighter suffered an electric shock during a unit fire emergency in Windang. Footage by Agron Latifi

00:00Yeah, so at 9.28 we got called to a unit fire at this premises.

00:05Warrawong and Shell Harbour were both called.

00:07Warrawong beat us here by a couple of minutes.

00:10Upon arrival they found the door locked and smoke issuing.

00:14The crew gained entry.

00:17They went inside, they found foodstuffs alike in the kitchen, which they extinguished.

00:21We were told out the front that there could possibly be a person reported.

00:24They did a quick check of the building and they found a man in the shower.

00:31They removed that victim, that casualty, out the front.

00:35We started administering first aid.

00:37We put him on oxygen.

00:40Yeah, that's about it.

00:41Has he been transported?

00:43He has been transported, yeah.

00:44There was one firefighter who just needed to get checked over for precautionary measures as well,

00:49but yeah, everything's fine there.

00:50So, yeah, went in, gained access quickly, got the man out of the smoke-filled environment very quickly

00:57and yeah, so it was a good job by all the emergency personnel.
