00:00Two firefighters suffered from electric shock while putting out a blaze at a shophouse block

00:11in Petagas, Putatan on Wednesday night. A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department

00:17said on Thursday that one of the injured firefighters was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further

00:22treatment while the other received on-site care from emergency responders. The department

00:28received a report about the fire at Jalan Pantai Berahi in the Taman Jambo area at 11.59pm.

00:35A team from the Putatan Fire Station was dispatched to the scene, with additional support from

00:40the Kota Kinabalu and Penampang Fire Stations. In total, 38 firefighters were involved in

00:47the operation, along with police officers and staff from Sabah Electricity. The fire,

00:53which destroyed one unit in a four-storey shophouse building, did not result in civilian

00:58injuries. The two firefighters injured by the electric shock were reported to be in

01:04stable condition. The fire was brought under control by 12.40am and the operation concluded

01:10at 1.40am.
