'Curb Your Enthusiasm' has captured the attention of Georgia's Secretary of State. The season premiere of the final season of the HBO comedy featured Larry David being arrested for violating Georgia's election integrity law for giving his friend Leon Black's aunt a bottle of water while she waited in line to vote on a hot day in Atlanta. He's now facing a looming trial on the series. The storyline must have made its way to the state capitol, because last month Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, sent a letter to David addressing the plotline about the 2021 voting law.

00:18Sir!
00:21In the Navy blazer, put your hands in the air.

00:29The storyline must have made its way to the state capitol
00:31because last month, Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger,
00:35sent a letter to David addressing the plotline about the 2021 voting law.
00:39The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first obtained the letter in a public records request.
00:43Raffensperger wrote in the tongue-in-cheek letter,
00:46As the chief elections officer for the state of Georgia,
00:48we'd like to congratulate you on becoming the first and, to our knowledge,
00:52only person arrested for distributing water bottles to voters within 150 feet of a polling station.
00:57We apologize if you didn't receive celebrity treatment at the local jail.
01:01I'm afraid they've gotten used to bigger stars.
01:03It's the TMZ of mugshots.
01:04The last line seemed to reference Trump's mugshot in Atlanta,
01:08which inspired the look of David's in the series.
01:10Raffensperger went on to write,
01:11Given the obvious concern you have about access to voting in Georgia,
01:15you'll be glad to hear that waiting times for all voters, including Leon's aunt,
01:19in the last two major elections were under two minutes, even as we experienced record turnout.
01:23He concluded the letter by saying,
01:25While my powers as Secretary of State to perform miracles are often overstated,
01:29I'm afraid I lack the authority to grant a pardon, even if you call me to ask for one.
01:33The arrest storyline has been hanging over the entirety of the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm,
01:38which wraps with its series finale this Sunday.
