00:00Hello lovely to see you and here's a full guide to what's on this holiday season across Bristol
00:06and the West Country. The lights are up, the market stores are open, theatres are filling up and the
00:11countdown to Christmas is very much underway. If you're looking for ideas to make the most of
00:17December there's something here for everyone from big pantomime nights to gentle festive walks
00:23and cosy countryside experiences. First up the Bristol Christmas Market is back in Broadmead in
00:30the heart of the city centre and it's staying open right through until the 23rd December. There are
00:36rows of wooden stalls selling handmade crafts, festive gifts, hot drinks and seasonal food. You can walk
00:43among the twinkling lights taking live music and enjoy the festive atmosphere without needing to
00:48book ahead. It's a great option for a relaxed evening out with friends or family even if you only have an
00:54hour or two to spare. Now are you looking for something more theatrical? Well the Bristol Hippodrome
01:01on St Augustine's Parade is staging the big pantomime of the year. Jack and the Beanstall runs from Saturday
01:08the 6th December all the way through to Sunday the 4th of January. It's one of the biggest seasonal
01:14productions in the region with comedy, music, bold costumes and plenty of those classic shout-along
01:20moments for the audience. Matinee and evening performances mean it works well for all ages and is
01:26one of the most popular festive traditions for local families. Now for a country escape the Festival
01:32Illumination Trail at Old Down Estate in Tockington near Bristol is running until the 28th of December.
01:39Every evening from half past four the grounds are lit up with glowing walkways,
01:43light installations, woodland trails and warming fire pits. There are festive drinks, marshmallow
01:49toasting and cozy corners for sitting and taking in the scene. It's a calmer way to enjoy the holidays
01:56and feels a little bit magical after dark. If you have children Old Down Estate is also hosting
02:02Breakfast with Santa from the 20th to the 24th of December. It includes a cooked breakfast, a personal
02:09visit from Santa himself, storytelling and a time to see the small farm animals in the country park.
02:16It is designed to be gentle, relaxed and personal without the long queues or rough schedules you
02:22sometimes get in bigger venues. Back in Bristol the Harbourside comes alive throughout December.
02:29Restaurants, bars and cafes offer festive menus, cozy outdoor seating and decorated terraces overlooking the
02:36water. It's perfect for after work get-togethers, informal Christmas meetups or just soaking up the lights
02:43reflecting on the harbour. You do not have to plan a big night out, even a short stroll can feel like an escape.
02:50So whether you want live theatre, winter lights or simple seasonal atmosphere, Bristol and the West Country
02:57are full of festive ideas.
