00:00President Trump may not get his man after all. I'm talking about former FBI Director James Comey.
00:06There are a bunch of ways the perjury case against him could just fall apart.
00:10And here's the latest. U.S. Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick has ordered prosecutors to
00:16turn over secret grand jury records in the case. He's accused the feds of a, quote,
00:20disturbing pattern of missteps in bringing their case against Comey, and he wants to see the
00:26proceeds. The judge ripped into President Trump's handpicked U.S. Attorney Lindsay Halligan for what
00:32he called, quote, fundamental misstatements of the law and said he noticed unexplained irregularities
00:39in the grand jury transcript. Here's one of the several examples the judge cited. After the grand
00:44jury opted not to proceed with one of the charges, Halligan basically wanted a do-over. Her timeline
00:51suggests that she wrote out a new charge, directed the grand jury on the law that it violated,
00:57sent them to deliberate, and then received their approval all in seven minutes. The judge said that
01:03that's just simply not enough time for all of those things to occur. Now, Fitzpatrick gave the U.S.
01:08Attorney's Office until the end of the day on Monday to hand over audio recordings of the grand jury
01:13proceedings as well as any materials under seal.
